Hello! I completely understand your reference of "drowning in stuff at home"! I have been working on/off on de-cluttering my home and I have had multiple bags of things that need to be destroyed. I found a place called Shred-It, which will do all the shredding for you, while you watch. It only takes a few minutes. They may have a few locations, but the one I went to is in Irving. I brought one LARGE lawn brown bag for them to destroy at the end of their work day. Their main focus is businesses with mass amounts of destruction needed. So, that's why you have to come at the end of the day if you're an individual with small loads compared to companies.
Anyway, it's been a while but I think they charge a minimum of $35 and mine was the minimum (even though I thought it was HUGE). It would have taken me months to shred on my own. So, it was worth it. I don't have their phone number handy, but you should be able to find them in the directory or on the internet.
Lastly, the way I first heard of them was they typically do two or three community shreds a year that are sponsered by big companies and/or the media. These large community shreds are FREE, but when I got there the line was hours long. So, it was so much more convenient for me to just do mine individually. But, if you want to wait for the community one, just keep checking with Ch. 5/NBC. They have sponsored for the past few years one that hit in the Fall/Winter. And, they usually have about 3 locations around the Metroplex. Last year there was a Shred location in Plano, Arlington and Reunion Arena. It last about 6 hours on a Saturday.
Well, I hope all this helps. If you can't find their number, please let me know and I'll located here...somewhere among my clutter. Take care. Many Blessings - L.
