I joined, got my cheap movies, paid for the expensive ones, fulfilled my contract, then quit. It just became a pain to make sure I didn't accidentally "order" the current selection. These days, I actually can't imagine buying a DVD, with all the other ways to watch movies, like Netflix, etc. It was pretty good when my kids were much younger because they'd watch the same movie over and over and over (you moms with young children know all about this, right?). So we own all the Disney princess movies and earlier Pixar movies, but now that my kids have outgrown them, they kinda just sit there taking up space. I don't know if it's actually worth it in the long run...I think you could probably get the movies you want gently used on eBay for a lot less, without any contracts to fulfill. They keep sending me "come back, be a member of our club again" emails and flyers, but those get ignored...

There was a post about this on August 26th. You may want to check it out.

I was a member. What was nice was I joined in the fall, got lots of movies for Christmas presents at the low price and was able to fullfill my club obligations and pay those higher prices later. In the long run you wind up paying the same whether in the club or at the stores.

There are advantages - like you can get some of the older movies that are difficult to find in the stores, you can choose the type of format you like (I hate widescreen, which is what is selling in the stores).

I am a member and have been for a few years. I think at the time it sounded worth it for the savings initially, even though the full price movies are expensive, but for the number of times I have forgotten to cancel and my husband has opened the movie and we ended up keeping it because I didn't feel like going to the post office and paying return shipping, it was a bit of a pain. They do get good sales on a lot of Disney classics, like the live action movies and oldies, DVD sets from tv, etc., and "grown-up" movies. Look through the online selection and just see if there are enough DVDs to make it worth it to you. I probably wouldn't renew just because I'm terrible at cancelling feature selections, but in the meantime I have also fulfilled my comittment and just keep checking it every month. So, yes and no, but check the selection. So far I haven't had any billing drama, which is usually the problem with clubs like that. :)

We joined more than a year ago. Because of the free shipping and discounted prices we have been able to save money. Sure some of the newer releases we have paid the same as what they cost in the store but as long as we don't pay more I'm okay with that. We've been able to replace a good portion of our Disney movies that were still on VCR tapes. It was a good choice for us.

I have and I love it! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law also do it and think it's great.
