Does Your Baby Do This???

I just saw my daughters Neurologist yesterday and found out why my 15 month old has been shaking her head. Turns out it is what they call Infantile Shivers (they react as if water has been splashed in their face). I found out that it will go away when she is about 2 or 3.

But she does this odd neck twich thing that her Ped., Othopedist and now Neurologist cant figure out what it is. She had Torticollis when she was born but it is now fixed and they dont think it has to do with that.

It looks as if she is shrugging her shoulders or that she stiffens up the shoulder and her head leans towards it. It is very strange! It is mainly on her right side but it does happen on both sides.

Does anyone know of a child doing this?

What can I do next?

There was a girl I went to high school with who did the exact same thing you're describing. She was perfectly normal in every other respect. She was bright, in regular and honors classes, and actually a very beautiful popular girl, she just had this twitch. I always thought it was maybe a form of Tourette Syndrome. I know there's something called a Tourette Tic. I read a little about it on this website http://www.tourettes-disorder.com/symptoms/tics.html. It makes mention of common childhood tics that vanish within a year. With your child being so young, maybe that's all your child has. Do a little research on tics on the Internet and you may find your answer. And if your child's current doctors can't give you an answer, I'd definitely be checking with some different doctors. Good luck!

My dad has done this since he was little.(the head twitch/head to the shoulder/shoulder shrug thing) He's 44 years old and he still does it. It's like a slight turret. To this day he will tell you its because the hair on his neck itches him. (BS, he's bald. No hair grows anywhere near that mans neck) But my grandmother told me he's always done it and his doctor said there was nothing wrong with him, he just had a little twitch.
Maybe its the same thing. I'd still have it checked out by as many doctor's as possible. Good Luck!

I just met someone the other day with the exact same thing. She's in her 40's and I didn't notice it at first, but after spending some time with her I noticed the pattern. She is married and has 3 kids and has a wonderful personality. You don't notice it again after you get to know her.

I know this is an old post but my 7 mo old is starting to do this. I noticed about 3 weeks ago but she stopped after a day or two. It just started up again and it has been going on for a few days now. She has a doctor's appt tomorrow but I was just trying to find some answers online. Did you ever find out anything more? Does your daughter still tic? Please help, I don't know what it is and it's freaking me out or am I just paranoid.
