Cut out the carbs...white stuff....none of it. Eat high protein with enough fat like lean steak, avacado, nuts, eggs, dairy, etc. Even if you don't excercise you will lose the belly fat.

Fresh fruits and veggies, high fiber/whole grains (make you feel full/satisfied longer), lean meats.

Drink water.

Limit sweets and empty carbs (chips, sodas, fruit juices, holiday treats).

Personally I think "diets" are a wrong way of thinking. You restrict yourself, lose the weight, then go back to eating your old ways and the weight creeps back on. I also don't think that there's anything to specifically target "belly fat" or any other body part. I think it's part of your body type that dictates where you carry your excess weight - pear shapes, triangle tops, round, etc. Try to make "life style changes" so that you incorporate new diet and exercise practices into your everyday.

After a baby your body has stretched out so much you may need to target your abs/core to strengthen those muscles again to get them tighter. Basically, if you have fat under the muscle it doesn't matter how tight they get, there will still be a bulge. But if you lose the fat and don't tighten the muscles, you'll still have a flab/loose looking skin since the muscle is hanging.

I hope this helps you! Good luck

First did you have a flat belly before the baby? I will never have a flat belly never did even when I weighed 110 always had a bump of fat that I need I guess. However eating healthy ie no breads or white flour, no pop, or coffee with creams, caramels and plenty of exercise your flat belly will be back in a couple more months. Good Luck!

I use the Abs Diet for Women (book). It's based on whole, natural foods, but you still feel satisfied.

more protein, fewer carbs. Sucks, doesn't it? :-)

When I started eating large amounts of veggies and cut down on my carbs, it definitely made my stomach smaller. I've had four kids, am 5'7" and am currently at 155 (so far I've lost 10lbs in three weeks), all of the extra weight is in my belly. I have no cellulite on my legs, my arms are very slender, but carrying all those kids really did a number to my belly. My pants didn't fit, tight shirts made me look pregnant.

Then I looked at what I was eating, and realized I was eating double servings of rice or other carbs at every meal. I cut out all carbs for one meal, and eat very small amounts at the other meals. My snacks are protein-filled (nuts or cheese and fruit), and I stopped eating white sugar and white flour altogether.
The only exception is at holiday parties, where I simply eat smaller portions, but don't watch my carb/sugar intake.

The result is that I lost 3 inches from my waist in two weeks, and continue to lose a couple of pounds every week. I don't really exercise outside of the normal daily activity I get keeping the home or working PT as a substitute teacher.

No white rice, white bread or regular pasta. Stay away from processed foods. Cheese keep to a minimum. No sodas, candies or chips. Eat more protein and less refined carbs. Greek yogurt for breakfast and may be a few hard boiled eggs. Have a snack later,a handful of grapes a banana, baby carrotts with hummus. For lunch a salad with oil and vinegar. For dinner fish, chicken, turkey with some kind of veggies. Brown rice is okay. They have lots of steamable veggies. I stay away from corn. Lots of carbs and it is very starchy. Exercise at least three times and week and drink about 64 ounces of water a day. I have done this for over two weeks now and I too have belly issue. At the 14 day point, I weighed my self and lost six pounds. If you have any other questions let me know. Good luck.
