My son has run a fever off and on for at least the last 3 weeks. 3 weeks ago when it was 103, I took him to the urgent care (weekend) and he had walking pneumonia and given antibodic. We followed up with the Ped the next day. He stated we were on the right path. His fever went away and he seemed fine. The next weekend a fever again with it staying around 100 but getting as high as 102. This lasted 2-3 days and went away. He has afever again running at about 100. He acts fine, a little grumpier and cuddlier than usual but playing normally. I don't know if he should go back to the Ped again, or wait it out. He has allergies and the cold snap this week did make him snotty nosed again and benadryll is clearing that up. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

I think it would be a good idea to follow up w/ the pedi to rule out any other infections (sinus?)
Hope your little guy feels better soon!! :)

Im not a wait it out type person. Fever signals infection and I always get it checked out. We get strep alot around here!

Take him to the Ped again, sounds like he might have been resistant to the antibiotic or picked up something else along the way from a weaker immune system. Best wishes and God bless!

This sounds just like my son except his fevers were every 3 weeks and went up to 104.5 every time. You could smell the burning. He also has chronic allergies (we're still trying to deal with those). As soon as we started doing the NeilMed Sinus Wash, his fevers reduced in frequency and temperature dramatically. He was getting sinus infections and if the mucus is stuck up there antibiotics won't work. We don't use the NetiPot but the clear bottle as I feel it's easier. Use Distilled water (as it's cleaner than boiled)!! I can't recommend this highly enough and it has no effect on any medicines. It does take a few tries and if he's blocked up the first couple of goes could be a little gross.

anytime there is a fever, especially a reacurring fever, i would have him seen. something has to be going on to cause this, and obviously the antibiotice didnt stop it, so my child would be back at the drs as many times as it took to get the fever to stop.....
