Hello again. Not too long ago I asked a question about "all day sickness" due to pregnancy and got some great advice. So here I am again with another question. Someone mentioned using the crock pot to cook since cooking food (especially raw meat) seems to be the hardest part for me. I was wondering if anyone could send me recipes were you do NOT need to cook the meat before adding it to the crock pot.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Toss about 4 frozen chicken breasts in a crockpot with a 8 oz. thing of cream cheese and a packet of zesty italian seasoning (you can find it in the salad dressing section at the store). I've done that and served it with rice and steamed veggies (from the big frozen bag of mixed veggies from costco :)).

I've also tossed in some thighs or breasts (I actually crave thighs WAY more during pregnancy)...with a can of stewed tomatoes, some chopped onions and olives and served it over pasta.

One of my favorites is a pork tenderloin roast (like the kind you get 4 to a pack at costco)...and dump in 1/2 cup of salsa and 1/3 cup of brown sugar. That one needs to cook awhile because the meat needs to be really shredding easily. Then we use it on tortillas with some chopped tomatoes, avocados (if I'm feeling generous), cheese, ranch dressing or sour cream...etc.

I'm trying to think of more...I know I have more...let me know if you still want some after all the responses you get :) I had to do the same thing...morning sickness/all day sickness was horrible for me...and food prep was a nitemare! Good luck!

Why not just let your husband do the cooking?

I've never even heard of cooking meat BEFORE crock potting.

Crock potting is great, because you just make up your own recipes.

Chicken - whole or pieces, sprinkle spice of choice, add veggies of choice.

Roast (beef or pork) - same

Adding a layer of celery on the bottom helps keep meat from overcooking on bottom. This can also be acheived with potatoes, balls of foil...or just ignore it altogether.

6-8 hours on low has always resulted in well cooked, tender meat.

Look in a crock pot cookbook or search recipes online... I've never used a recipe where I had to cook the meat beforehand. There are TONS of recipes where you don't need to.

This is my go to site for crock pot recipes: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
You could also make meatloaf in the crockpot. Hope you feel better soon. I had that all day sickness too, nothing helped except getting past the first trimester.

I always put the crock pot on the back patio or in the garage when I couldn't stand the smell of it cooking in the house. Here's a great chicken soup recipe I use often. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1639,156182-243203,00.html
