Florida with 4 & 1 Year Old

We are going to Florida in 2 weeks. The plan was to just do Disney World and enjoy the ocean for the week long trip. We are now considering adding in one more amusement park, but are unsure which one would be best. We will have our 4 year old and 1 year old along, so it would have to be somewhere that we will be able to have them on our laps for the rides or that they would enjoy walking through. What would you guys recommend?? We are trying to keep the cost lower, so are open to a smaller/cheaper park, as well as the big name parks.
Thank you!

What can I do next?

Lego Land is EXACTLY what you are looking for...about a 45 minute ride from Disney World. Unfortunately, it's just about as expensive as Disney but you can find kids get in free tickets pretty easily. I just moved from the Orlando area last August to Dallas so I have been there and my kids had a great time. The adults will find it pretty cool too.

By Disney World, do you mean the 4 parks there or do you mean Magic Kingdom? There is no way you can experience all Disney world has to offer and go to the beach in a week long trip. If your current plan is to only do Magic Kingdom, I would do other disney parks. Each subsequent day added onto a ticket is less.

Disney World is huge and it's very expensive ! I would go the Magic Kingdom for the day. I would not rec Epcot for a 4 yr old.
Animal Kingdom is nice, but, it's alot of walking. My favorite show there is The Lion King show. It's dark and loud. The toddler next to me cried the whole time. If your 4 yr old is not afraid of characters, you can get some great pics there.
I love Sea World !!!

I would suggest doing a day or two at Magic Kingdom and if you are getting multiple day tickets maybe Animal Kingdom also. Epcot is above a 4 year old's head and not very enjoyable for them. The movie one is also not great for a 4 year old and worse for a 1 year old. Then either Legoland or spend the rest of your time at the beach / pool. Legoland is great even with babies - it is really geared towards the under 10 set I would say. My 6 year old loves it as does my 2 year old. My friend has a 3 and 4 year old who also love it - and they are girls!

Good luck! Be sure to have a stroller for each child. I would highly recommend separate and cheap umbrella type strollers. That way if you would like to divide and conquer you can do so without the hassle of a double stroller. C.

Lowry Park and ZOO in Tampa, FL is great for kids. Not sure how far away it will be from where you are staying, but it's a great place for young children.

Sea world. The four year old will like it. Lets face it the one year old is along for the ride. Really will not get anything out of the parks. Legoland would work too. For me personally, I would do Magic Kingdom one other and hit the beach. I am sure you must be ready for some sun and sand! I know I am done with winter myself. Have fun.

I live in fl and would agree with many of the other moms. I would stick to your original plan. Disney can be very busy which makes seeing it all take a long time. We go in the morning then head back to hotel for naps and swim in pool then back for the evening parades. We have a condo at cocoa beach. I would recommend renting a condo on the beach there or staying at a hotel right on the beach.

Have fun traveling with a 1 yr old is difficult but still fun if u go with mi d set that u r not in a rush. Take breaks and get naps in.

NOT Epcot. It's for older kids and even adults. I would be tempted to split up the Magic Kingdom into 2 days and take some downtime for naps, pool time, etc. I didn't know there was now a Legoland in FL, but we LOVE the one in CA. If it's similar to the one in CA that might be a good place to go.

I would not recommend doing another park with two very young children. No matter how "small and cheap", they are still VERY pricey and you WILL have to pay for the youngest. Disney is a huge park and the Magic Kingdom will take you an entire day. Epcot will be too much for them and as others have said Animal Kingdom is very cool, but lots of walking.

Just a thought... Downtown Disney is a lot of fun and I don't think you have to pay to get into it. It's on the compound, but it's not a theme park. Tons of shops, restaurants and things to see and do. The Lego store is very cool!

Medieval Times is a cool restaurant/show. It's kind of cheesy, but if your son likes "Mike the Knight" or is into that kind of thing... it's fun. You eat in an arena and watch a jousting match complete with knights, princesses, crowns (you get to wear one), "medieval chicken dinner" and serving wenches. No idea what the cost is now, but you can easily Google it.

This doesn't answer your question (sorry) but are you sure you want to add another park? Disney World can take several days to see. And, last time we were in Florida my kids (ages 6 and 3) were upset the days that we made plans to see stuff. They were happiest swimming in the hotel pool and going to the beach. And that's already paid for. Just something to think about.

We are going to the Tampa area. well Pinellas park.

We go to the beach, and take our 4 year old on the wave runner .

There is a ton to do in Mederia.. there is mini golfing etc.. Everything is expensive.. so just haning on the beach is awesome or renting a wave runner.

Good luck
