Definitely need to talk to his doctor. I've never heard of anything like that. We were instructed to give my daughter Mylican. (?spelling) That helped quite a bit.
My 8 week old son seems to be incredibly gassy lately. I've heard a lot of different remedies for gas in infants but was wondering about something I heard. A friend said that chamomile tea calms their stomach...is this true? is it safe to give my infant tea??? how much?/ has anyone else heard this? Thanks!

Babies magic tea worked wonder for my super gassy baby.
We had the same problem with our first daughter. We tried the gas drops, we would put them in her formula, someone told us about tea, but I didnt feel comfortable giving my baby tea. We ended up switching to soy formula (Isomil Advance from Similac), turns out she had a mild milk allergy. She is now going to be 3 and drinks regular milk all the time. We had another daughter August 07, and we started her on the Isomil right from the start. Good Luck!
We noticed when our last daughter started on formula after I was done breastfeeding, she became really gassy and her belly was upset alot, we ended up switching to soy formula, and then she was fine. I also have heard that the iron in formulas can upset their stomachs.
I wouldn't do tea.
You can try gripe water or mylicon drops.
When he seems gassy, lay him on his back and pump his legs as if he was riding a bicycle. Then gently press his legs so that his feet go up to his chest- like when you change a diaper. This should produce some farts or help poop. Also make sure you are burping thoroughly after a feeding. If he doesn't burp after a few minutes of patting up on your shoulder, try sitting him up on your lap and patting him (just examples).
Are your nursing or formula? If your're nursing has your diet changed? Certain foods can cause gas in babies. If formula, he may be sensitive to the type you're using. Mycolon drops for infant gas may help. Tummy time also will help if there are some bubbles in there.
Tea has been a favorite remedy in our family for generations. Chamomile, Catnip, Fennel, Mint, our son has had it all. They all work well for gas, not just in babies. If it makes you too uncomfortable to give the baby tea, just call the ped. :) We've never had any adverse side effects. As for the amount, I would say no more than an ounce or two prior to feeding. Good Luck.
If you are bottle feeding then maybe it's the formula but if you are breastfeeding then try pumping his legs like bicycle riding a lot and it will probably relieve the gas. My daughter at that age was always really gassy and I thought that breastfed babies weren't supposed to be but it lasted a short while and that was the end of it. Gripe water worked well too. It's not medication, it's all natural. I would be leary of giving such a young baby tea.
I would ask yourdoctor. your little one might have food allergies or if your nursing you could beeating things he may not be able to process like cucumbers, or onions? Your formula may need to be changed. Nutrition is very important when they are small. I wouldnt give a baby tea.
I don't know about chamomile, but my sister had a colicky baby and upon recommendation from a friend gave her fennel seed tea. She made it herself and started giving one ounce of tea from a bottle prior to each feeding, within two days she was a different baby. She continued giving it until about 5 months, and then began cutting back, eliminating one serving of tea every couple of days. She had no problems coming off the tea. Good Luck.
