Help! I'm Afraid I Might Be Going Blind.

Not to long ago I noticed that when I go to sleep w/my makeup on, in the morning I have either a blurry or no vision at all in both eyes but more in the right eye. I learned my lesson. Sunday I did not apply any makeup at all and on Monday morning I had a blurry vision and I was seeing like a ray of what appeared to be of a violet color. Last night I removed my makeup and my vision was blurry again. I'm thinking of maybe not wearing makeup anymore, however, I really need it, if you know what I mean. I have no insurance and it's expensive just to get a consultation let alone the testing. Anyone experience this? What was it? Any referrals?

What can I do next?

Brenda,

I concur with the other moms. I don't think this is the right place to turn for advice on a solution. I will sometimes get blurred vision and see colors during a terribly severe migraine, but that doesn't seem to be one of your symptoms. Is it possible you have diabetes? If it is uncontrolled, you can lose your vision. It's possible you had a retina detatch, which will cause you to lose your vision. if it's unchecked or untreated, your vision loss will be permanent.

You will need to be seen by a doctor right away... i would suggest you visit an emergency room - they cannot refuse you, and I would consider vision loss an emergency. If you do not have insurance, you can make payments to them, and as long as you are paying on a consistent basis and are in touch with them, about a payment plan, they will not send you to collections for the debt. At least at the emergency room, you can have your blood tested right away for glucose/insulin issues, look in your eye to see if your retina detatched, or if you are having an issue with blood clots. This could be small blood clots traveling through your veins and causing blurring... if a big enough one gets through, you can have a stroke.

Go to the ER, please... this is serious.

Please let us know what happens. But I feel pretty confident that this is not your makeup...

Brenda,
We moms all have our areas of expertise but this is not the right forum for your problem. You need to get to a doctor, like, yesterday! Your health and especially your vision are of the utmost importance! At least go to the emergency room where they have to see you regardless of if you can pay or not.

Go to the dr. immediately. Worry about the $ later. Eyesight is way too valuable. Good luck.

HI Brenda,

I absolutely agree with the other girls that you should get this taken care of right away. I know that it's scary without insurance (or even with insurance!) but your eyesight is irreplaceable and you can always pay off the bills. I have not had the symptoms which you are referring to but I have terrible eyesight (-11.5 in each eye) and Ocular Rosacea (which causes eye infections as well as blocked ducts in my eyelids).

My only different recommendation would be to see a specialist. A trip to the E.R. could very well cause a mis-diagnosis as E.R. docs do not have the special training of the eye which will be needed (and yes, I speak from experience as somone who was mis-diagnosed in the E.R. with an eye problem).

I have seen two dr's:
The Eye Boutique in Crystal Lake (P) 800-926-1801
Suburban Assoc in Opthalmology in Hoffman Estates (P) ###-###-####.

Maybe you could contact an eye dr, just tell them your situation and they could give you an idea of the cost and what can be done? If you don't like one answer move onto another dr. Dr's really are everywhere, and maybe you can find one that will be willing to work with your situation.

Please keep us posted as to what happens! I hope that all tunrs out well!

I don't have experience with this, but it is not from your make-up. You need to go get seen by a doctor right away before it gets worse. They might be able to reverse it or halt progress.

Your sight is more important than how much it costs - preventing things now could save you a lot more in the future.
