What Does a Blood Clot Feel Like?

A blood clot in the leg, is called deep vein thrombosis. If you even suspect you have a blood clot, you need to see a Dr. ASAP!! The clot can travel to the lung and cause a pulmonary embolism. I copied the symptoms of a blood clot:

Symptoms occur in the affected leg when a clot obstructs blood flow and causes inflammation. Symptoms may include the following:

* Swelling
* Gradual onset of pain
* Redness
* Warmth to the touch
* Worsening leg pain when bending the foot
* Leg cramps, especially at night
* Bluish or whitish discoloration of skin
*However, almost 30%-50% of individuals with deep vein thrombosis do not experience symptoms from the condition.

You need to get to a doctor ASAP. I have a friend (38) who just got out of the hospital today -- she was in for blood clots in her legs. She had pain in a couple spots on her leg that wouldn't go away. She had three clots. She had no idea that it would be clots. She just was sick of the pain. Please don't put off going to the doctor.

I thought blood clots killed you! I guess that's why I'm an insurance agent and not a doctor! :o) I hope you feel better soon!

I think you just need to go get checked out.
I got a blood clot in my arm, of all things. It started out with my skin feeling very hot to the touch and it was red. At first I thought I was bitten by a spider or something. Well, the pain became excruciating and I couldn't use the stick shift in my car. Just that much of a jostle killed me. I couldn't stand any clothing touching my skin. I called the telenurse and they asked me if I had a fever. I said, "How the hell would I know? It's 110 degrees outside."
I was dizzy and sick and my husband took me in. It was a blod clot.
A year or so ago, I got a funny pain in my lower leg. I thought I must have bumped it. I'm thin and bruise easily and sure enough, I developed a red spot. Within 3 days I couldn't even put any weight on my leg and the spot was looking like I had flesh eating bacteria.
My friends raced me to the emergency room. It wasn't a blood clot and they sent me to have doppler done on my veins to make sure.
What I had was a terrible staph infection. How I got it, I have no idea, but I was on hard core antibiotics for two weeks and it cleared up. It was so bad that it left a scar though.
Definitely get checked out. Don't wait.
Not to scare you, but my mom put up with pains in her legs for years and she had to have stents put in to open up the blood supply to her legs. She's 68 and feels a thousand times better now.
It could be anything, but there is no chance in risking it regardless.
Get yourself seen.

I agree with everyone who has said go to the ER!

Please go to WebMD and search DVT or deep vein thrombosis. If the symptoms sound familiar, go to the ER. This is a potentially dangerous situation.

Even if you don't go to the ER, at least make an appointment with your primary care physician to get it checked out. You do NOT want to screw around with a blood clot. It can break off and travel to the lungs or block blood to the heart (causing cardiac arrest) or block blood to the brain (prohibiting oxygen-rich blood from reaching the brain, which controls breathing and heartbeat).
