My husband's co-worker has invited us to a "cook-in" this Saturday. He is a 30 year old single guy who has been taking culinary arts classes...he's going to be making us quite the spread!

I'd like to bring him a host gift, other then a bottle of wine. Do you have any good ideas for a gift for a 30 year old guy? The only thing I really know about him is that he's into cooking right now and is taking the culinary classes as a hobby.

Thank you!

What about a nice or some nice cutting utensils? A good knife or cutting board. Cheese board with lid, anything culinary. They should have great stuff out now for Christmas. An Apron with his name on it, a great serving dish, good pot holders, kitchen towles, etc. Check the good stores though, like Harry & Davids, Trader Joe's might have something, Merchant of Vino, Williams Sonoma.
I also thought of nice measuring cups/spoons and maybe mixing bowls (large and small for different spices).

Hi L., Lakeside mall has a coffee beanery in it. Especially, this time of year they have nice little sample packs that are usually in the 10-20 dollar range. That's a popular host/hostess gift for us. We also go to Godiva in the mall and get a nice box of chocolates. An ornament this time of year is nice. It could be a cooking themed one. or even, a cooking apron something "kiss the cook" would be cute. Hope that helps!

Flowers! How many 30 year old men would think of flowers. They always make a table look great.

I know you said "besides wine," but what 30 year old guy doesn't like to drink? I'd bring wine, cocktail napkins or a set of funky stem charms.

Hey L.,

I would go to a place like william sonoma and get him a GC that he could go and buy that one thing he wants/needs. Maybe even put a bottle of wine with it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
