I second the vote for a Disney theme. You can do the Disney classic characters with Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Pluto. Another option is Disney/Pixar with Cars or Toy Story theme.

How about some kind of animal theme? Noah's Ark, Safari, Farm Yard or Puppies seem to be pretty popular and easy to find. Check Craigslist to get some bargains.

If you are low on $$ and they have to share a room...I say build on the Disney Theme. There are a ton of cute things for boys in Disney theme - and either re-paint the whole room a neutral color or just do two walls (that is what I would do)...she can have two and he can have two. And, if you know it is temporary, I wouldn't put too much time, energy or money into it anyway. An overhead projector is cute and easy for decorating (we used one when doing our nursery). Good luck and congrats!!!

Hi S.,

I think if you were wanting to keep the Disney theme you can just paint the walls a neutral gender color (sage green or something) and your new little guy can just have all the boy type Disney stuff. If not, I know I have seen some really cute stuff out there with pottery barn in complementing boy/girl rooms with plaids, etc. Just looking through their catalogue gives great ideas.

Congrats to you on your new little buddy and good luck decorating! If you need a painter let me know, my husband did our nursery and its just wonderful - plus we have a paint business (Fresh Look) and Mamasource members get a 10% discount.

Congrats, A.

You can try craigslist and see what decorations are on there that are inexpensive or try and trade the decorations you have. You can try to do a pink and blue room and focus one side for her and the other side for your son. I have learned that wall stickers that are plastic that do not hurt your paint can go a long way with decorating. I bought letters for my daughter and took some of the stickers to decorate her letters instead of painting them. Put her name on one side of the room and your son's on the other side of the room.

we did a dr seuss for my daughter, but it really would work for either. we used an overhead projector and copied pics out of his books and put them on clear page size lables so they didnt move around. it sounds like a lot of work but b/c of the process you can only do about 30 min of work a day and it took us about a month.
