I don't know what else to do. My daughter was very premature and needs her medical attention required for her breathing problems etc. and can't go b/c I can't afford the doctor visits. Please help! D., I know exactly how you feel. I am waiting to get approved by CMS also. I do not understand why they punish us for working two jobs to make ends meet. We single mothers are not living in the lap of luxury, we work two or more jobs to support our kids. i get so angry, because I don't see how a person can be driving a BMW and still be on food stamps and have medicaid. I fee your pain. I just wanted to let you know I did look into Blue Cross and Blue Shield but they won't insure children only and because I myself am diabetic, they could not insure me. So in the meantime, i have to wait which will go into effect first, the medicaid or my insurance at work, which will be even more expensive. Good Luck and God Bless.

Hi D. I understand your desperation. I work for Allstate Insurance. We do not do health insurance but here is a number that may be able to help. I am not sure what all they offer but maybe they have a health insurance plan that may be affordable. Good Luck ###-###-####

Hi D.:
I know Blue Cross Blue Shield of FL offers health insurance for children that is pretty reasonable.

D., I know when my daughter was younger we went through a place called Bohawc(Bayfront Outpatient Health for Adult Woman And Children). That was 10 years ago however I have heard that it is still there. Call Bayfront and ask them. Their fees were done on a sliding scale based on income. We received excellent care at very nominal pricing. Also have you looked into ssi for your premie. She might qualify which will automatically give her health coverage. Hope this helps. R.

I wish you well--we are currently spending $800 per month to insure our family. My daughter has reactive airway disease and has been hospitalized twice (she's 3 years old). So kept our Cobra with my husband's old company. It's SO EXPENSIVE!!!!

Ask about Florida Healthy kids it's supposed to be based on your income, go to www.myflorida.com and search for health insurance, I do know that this program exists because I bought it for my son prior to me getting health insurance thru work.
