I Hate Comcast...

We REALLY want to get rid of our comcast but feel stuck. What other options do we have? I have called Qwest for Internet but get a run around there and then Direct TV seems just as crazy. Any advice for what is working for people would help! We are trying to cut out monthly bills but would like to add a house phone. As of right now were are paying just under $90 for cable and internet a month.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So we decided to get Direct TV - anything will be better than what we have now. Thanks for all the responses ladies!

I hate Comcast too. I was shopping around and asked them for a better deal and they swore up and down that I was getting the best deal they had. Then we switched to MPLS WIRELESS for internet (I only pay $15 a month) and when I called Comcast to cancel my service, they magically came up with a discount for me. Too late! I switched anyway.

Hi I have comcast too and we have a so many problems with them and I run my business from the phone and internet and they are always cutting out on me. When we moved a talk to comcast and they were able to give me a deal for another year of $130.00 that is all 3 services + digital tv. If I was you call them up and see what they will do for you cause they don't like to lose their customers. Good Luck!

At&t Uverse has a great new service that is all digital... we have cable & internet through them and pay $95 that is including the special HD channels that my hubby wanted. You can also get phone through them. We have had no problems and they come out with in a day or two to get it all installed (other places have you wait a week or more!). They have great customer service, we just got a 2nd tv and they walked us through how to set it up as soon as we called.

The only thing is that it is not avalibly everywhere, yet. I am not sure they are in Saint Paul, MN or not but worth checking it out. You can go to this website for more info:

Best of Luck!

Hi T.!

I know how you feel.

I just went through that this weekend.

I found a phone plan that fit my business and lowered my bill.

We have Time Warner and have all the minimums, nothing special and our internet & cable runs about $113.00 a month.

So if you can keep it under $100.00 that's pretty good.
Let me know if you find something cheaper. I haven't found it yet.

Where do you live?

There are a few other smaller companies

I hate Qwest and am currently with Comcast which highly annoy me. I have alot of service problems where my services go out and such. I'm constantly on the phone with rude customer service. I know how you feel it's like they have a monopoly over the twin cities and get away with outrageous pricing and rude customer service.

I think there are a ton of us who can relate!
Your options may be limited depending on where you live. We have no other option except Comcast where we live -- which sucks. We pay about $150 a month for internet, cable and phone -- which irritates me every time I pay the bill. But, we can't cut any of it out with kids at home.
Good luck trying to find something!

I called them because I felt the same way. We were trying to cut our bills a bit. I told them I wanted to cut everything to bare bones. Minimum tv, dial up, basic phone. I ended up getting my tv, phone and internet reduced by $50/month for 6 months. worth a try.

I don't know where you live, but we have DirecTv and love it! We also use TDS for our phone and internet.

I don't know where you live and if this is an option for you. We wanted high speed internet and since we live in the country - there was no one available - until I heard about 'radio wave' internet. We get a beam from a radio tower for our high speed internet. It costs $40 a month. Don't know if that would help you save money or not. I know they have towers in IA and WI but not sure where else. I have never had comcast, but have had direct tv. Things didn't go well and I ended up paying an early cancellation fee. Whenever we had bad weather we wouldn't get a signal. They also raised the price during our contract and I called them and told them to send me a box so I can send one of the boxes back and two days later my cable didn't work anymore. I called them and they wanted me to pay $80.00 for someone to come out and move our dish. We hadn't had any bad weather so it shouldn't have had to be moved. They don't care about having good customers and won't budge on prices. We also had high speed internet through quest and it was almost as slow as dial up.
Good luck with your decision.

We have Dish Network because we also HATE COMCAST! I don't even want to get into my horror story about what we had to deal with. Not sure what packages they offer with dish as far as internet, but...we've been told that they do offer it. The unfortunate part is that you have to purchase your own equipment instead of renting it, and that could be abit of a financial burden. (Well, at least that's the way it was for us when we signed up 6 years ago...they could have rental equipment now, but something to look into.) We love the dish (tv part) and have never really had any unreliable service with them...other than just a phone call to what I've experienced is a VERY helpful tech support line that has ALWAYS been able to help us over the phone to fix our minor problems.

Good Luck.
