I recently moved to Wylie and am in great need of a hair stylist. I used to go to the JC Penney salon to have my very thick, african-american hair styled. A few weeks ago, I got a letter from the salon saying that my stylist was no longer employed there (no further explaination was given) Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, reasonably-priced hair stylist in the Wylie or Plano area who can work with african-american hair? I am in desperate need of hair coloring services as the gray hairs are starting to take over my head! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi G., I just read your request and think you should go to your regular salon and enquire about your old stylist. Ask the manager, friends, or co-workers if they know where she works now. She may work somewhere else in town or out of her home. Personal things happen all the time to cause us to lose or quit working for certain employers. If she was that good at doing your hair let her know by following her to her next place of employment.

I have little time and little money to spend it all in a salon. I get my african american hair done by Cassandra @ WalMart in Plano at 6001 S.Central Expressway off 75. I have lived here in TX for about 5 years now and found a stylist that I absolutely love! I too have very thick hair and she has done wonders for me. I go to a young lady that does wonders for my hair and also works with natural hair. She has a great personality and works in a suite (Midway and Trinity Mills). Her name is Samara and her number is ###-###-####.

I know a wonderful lady who will syle your hair with care and love. I just met her and she recently moved to the area. She is not in Plano, but rather in Allen, just as close. Her name is Charlotte and the hair salon is on McDermott, close to Target or better close to Pay Less shoes. She is a real professional with reasonable prices.

I recently moved to Lavon and just went from long hair to super short after 12 years. Major shock! At any rate, I went to the Great Clips off to the left of Wylie WalMart over by CiCi's Pizza. There is (only 1) black lady (forgot her name, sorry) and she said she has been doing hair for over 15 years. The nicest stylist I've met yet. She really made me feel as ease with cutting my hair. I just loved her! That is where I will be going to get my hair done from now on.
FYI: There is a white lady there also and unfortunately she cut my husbands hair and it was choppy so make sure you don't let her do it!
Walk-ins are welcome and they were giving away a free gas card it you let them wash your hair as well...I don't know if they still are or not.
I too just recently moved to the Plano area and by luck found a really good stylist for my son's african-american hair. She did a wonderful cut for him. She is also attentive, following my requests for styling and when scheduling, she calls back usually within the hour if I don't reach her directly. Pricing, at least in our case, is very reasonable. Her name is Sondra and she works out of a salon very close to 75, 230 W. Parker. The number is ###-###-####.
