My 7 month old has been arching her back really bad and having gas. She will cry to burp and has hiccups often. could this be reflux or does she just have bad gas? she will grunt and strain after bottles but will also arch her back. Thanks

What can I do next?

it could be. I would visit reflux.org it's all about reflux/gerd in adolescents and has some good tips and questions for doctors. my daughter still has reflux issues at 8 years old, but they are very controllable with medication and diet modification. You can try gripe water and you can add twice the normal dose of mylicon or gas drops to every bottle (they can't OD on it) and see if that helps. she got worse with teething and with gassy foods and peaches. you can send me a personal message if you like.

It sounds like reflux to me. 2 of my 3 babies have it, to different degrees. My second spit up everywhere and his acid was controlled by Zantac. My third rarely spits up, but hers is much worse. She swallows it back down, so we rarely see it, but can hear her regurgitating and gulping. She is on Nexium. I would definitely see the doctor. If your baby is hurting it is worth it to make her feel better!

the arching of the back is a classic sign of reflux it means its coming up her pipe and hurts. My littlest guy who just turned 1 had the same problem and it took a friend pointing out how he was arching his back altho some of it was him just looking around lol but yes he had some of it as he spit up often too. Dr gave him kids zantac and it helped A LOT! So don't be afraid to go ask her dr about it. I love ur girls' names by the way ;). Very pretty!

My daughters each had success using gripe water with their babies gas. Ask your pharmacist for it. It's natural and gentle.

hmm i would say it's gas...one of my children had reflux and they would spit up EVERYTIME he ate until i switched his forumla to infamil AR....even breast milk he would spit up...HUGE AMTS! maybe try giving your child gas drops before and sometime after she eats and see...but i would also check out info on reflux and then make an appointment with your pediatrician

I would say it is reflux. With reflux they do not always spit up because it may not be making its way all the way up to get out. When my son was born he had severe reflux and would arch his back and cry because it hurt so bad. I would definitely get it checked out by your pediatrician.
