Infant with Cold Hands at Night

My daughter is 4 1/2 mos. She generally sleeps pretty well, occassionaly she wakes up around 3 or 4 am. My questions is, her room is very cold. It is the farthest from the furnace and the heat duct runs up the outside of the house. I run an electric heater for a hour or so before I put her to bed (then turn it off and unplug it). I dress her in warm pjs and a sleep sack and have a light blanket tucked under the matress that I pull up to her waist. Her legs/torso/arms/head are never cold at night but her little hands are icicles. Any suggestions for keeping them warm?

I can't turn up the heat in the house anymore b/c the rest of the house just gets warmed and it doesn't warm up her room.

What can I do next?

Our kids' room doesn't have heat duct run to it, and a space heater was out of the question. Being a contractor and electrician, my hubby found a wall mounted electric baseboard heater that he was able to run into our walls electric supply =no plugs. It has a temperature control, also. Some nights are still a little chilly so I have found that a humidifier helps ALOT. After all, that's what heat does is add humidity; air conditioning takes it out.

Good luck!

We found a 'space heater' that is a panel that we could mount on the wall in our son's room. It worked perfectly as it sounds like the same thing we experience as you do (and still do... atlho now we use more blankets and he comes into our bed!).

You can plug it in, switch it on at night, no fans or anything and it is really safe (as it's not a fire hazard.). Raises the room a few degrees if the door is left open. I loved it when I was nursing because I didn't freeze either! ;)

When it's morning, you just switch it off, and if the wall is another color, as they are older you just make sure to teach them to stay away or take it down. I had no problems with my son...

I had the same problem recently. We ended up putting my sons fleece mittens on him at night and it works great. He doesn't seem to mind it, and having warmer hands does help him sleep more soundly. Hope this helps!

I used to put socks on my baby's hands at night. You want them snug but not too tight. Definitely don't put on loose ones. It worked like a charmed for my babies.
