I live in Bergen County but see Dr. Kairam of Summit Pediatrics in Summit, NJ. He is so patient, he is all about family centered care and I feel like I could call their office for *anything.* Their number is ###-###-####.
Hi Moms,
Due to our recent move, I had to start the process of looking for a new pediatrician. I liked the pediatrician we were going to when we lived in Morris county, but the staff and other member doctors weren't so great. I found another doctor closer to our new house, but I'm unsure if I’m staying with him. His staff is great and very knowledgeable. However, when we brought our son in for his first visit (a sick visit) I felt the doctor directed most of his attention to my husband. How could this be? I'm the one who has been up with our son for the past week and a half!!! So my question is...Is anyone really happy w/ their Pediatrician? If anyone knows of a pediatrician who really takes time to talk to you (the mother) and ask all the right questions and spends adequate time w/ your child, please - please let me know. I would really like a doctor who is affiliated w/ Hackensack University Medical Center, but at this time I’m willing to consider anyone. I’m desperate. Thanks.

Also not sure where you live - but I use Pediatric Specialities in Hackensack which is affliated with Hackensack Hospital (across the street from it). The doctors are good (although my son has been very healthy - not many sick visits), but the phone system is a pain-in-the-neck.
I've also heard good things about Tenafly Pediatrics.
I have to tell you, I've not found a doctor in NJ that I'm happy with. In Ohio, we had the most amazing pediatrician, but here it's either the doctors just giving weird suggestions (I have some crazy stories) or the staff being pathetic at their jobs. That goes for ped's and adults too... I've never had to shop so much for a reasonable doctor, and though we've found okay drs, they really are just okay. Bizarre! Good luck to you... I hope our medical system isn't as messed up as it seems to be!
Hi J.,
This is probably a bit far for you, but I absolutely LOVE my daughter's pediatrician. His name is Robert Darr, MD and he is located on 356 76th St in Brooklyn, NY. He is the most patient doctor I have ever visited. He starts out each visit asking me if I have any questions, and usually takes at least 15 minutes talking with me before he even starts examining the baby. I never feel rushed. He makes you feel like your baby is his only patient. He is truly wonderful. So, if you're willing to travel into Brooklyn, I highly recommend him. HTH. Good luck in your search.
dr. mulgaonkar, livingston, nj afffilated with st. barnabas in livingston. ###-###-#### or ###-###-####, can't remember which.
Dr. Daniel Hermann - summit medical, westfield
Dr. Shaprin - private practice, westfield
I really like both of them and if you meet w/ them, I think you'll find they spend more than enough time talking w/ you (and with your child as he/she gets older) and answers all your questions.
Not sure where you live, but since you mentioned hackensack hospital I assume you live in the Bergen county area. I really like our ped. Doctor Rosen of the Whole Child Center in Oradell NJ. I'm not sure if he personally is taking any new paitients, but his center would since there are other doctors there.
