My daughter is 10. Your typical 10 yr. old who is intelligent, quirky, witty and wise beyond her years... (yeah, I love her a bit). She has a "boyfriend"... Meaning, they send eachother notes, give eachother little sweets now and then and such. They haven't even held hands or hugged and see eachother only at school. She told me he gave her a Thanksgiving card and sucker, but didn't elaborate. I just found the "card" in her pants pocket... so sweet... have any of you moms/dads found anything like this and want to keep it for a memory box?

In a home made envelope made from wrapping paper and tape, Tyler wrote (very neatly):

"Happy Thanksgiving Emily. I hope you like this card, and if we are still dating when I give you this I just want to say that you are the best Girlfriend I have ever had!
-- Tyler"

Let the "ahhhhhhhhsssss" commense! lol

So What Happened?

Momwithcamera: "You are not suppose to snoop & tell. How will you innocently find it in later times?"

tp Momwithcamera: She's very nonchalant about her interactions with classmates and friends. Since the note was in her clothing and I check all pockets before washing them, I was not snooping or invading privacy. She's also very open with me about her school life. She will not feel as if I "snooped". She's a great girl and shares all these things with me. I was just pleased to find the actual note he gave her and thought it would be sweet to show her in 10 or so years. Lighten up.

That's so sweet.

Gotta love the innocence of puppy love.

...although, "best girlfriend I ever had."...? How many has this kid had?!? Lol. Looks like Tyler is a little player. ;) (said very jokingly.)

My 7 year old just cuddled up to me this evening and confessed she had a "crush" on a boy in her class. She then shyly found last year's school picture and pointed him out to me.

I asked her if he was nice and polite, she said yes. She told me that she tried to give him a hug at one point during the day and she the teacher "scolded" her. So we had a reminder chat about personal space and how not everyone likes hugs from people who aren't family.

I told her to have fun and be his friend, but not to worry about the hugging stuff, just have a good time with a good friend.

Yeah for homemade notes and cards still.

My 14 yo son shared with me last night that a wonderful girl at school likes-likes him. I ask, how do you know? Then he told me the details of the txting conversation...And I said, Ahhhh, so personal and intimate.

I think that is innocent.

I did save things like that for my daughter's memory box.

That's so cute!! If it ends up in the bottom of the drawer at some point in her room, quietly retrieve it and give it to her before she goes off to college. It will be a big smile for her then!

Sounds pretty innocent.
I also have a 10 year old....not into boys yet though. As a matter of fact, she won't hang out with some girls at recess because "all they want to do is talk about boys". Fine with me!!

So sweet! Keep it for sure, my mom kept some of the little "love" notes my "boyfriend" gave me in the 1st grade. We grew up together and he ended up marrying one of my good friends, we got a good laugh out of our notes as adults. My favorite were the "will you be my girlfriend? Check yes or no" ones.

The Valentine's Day before last, my granddaughter came home with a big snow globe, a LARGE box of chocolates and a great card from her "friend." The note was soooo mushy, it kind of worried me. This boy said things like "the room lights up when you walk in" and "your smile makes my day." She didn't think it was a big deal, but grandpa and I thought we'd better pay attention to this relationship. She has since changed schools and lost touch with that boy, but now she has two more calling her. She's 11.

I have an 11 year old daughter.
She still thinks boys are icky.

Sorry, I have no input about your 10 year old.
But yes, cute for the memory box!

But maybe, she has an older sibling? And hence, is "older" in that sense? I mean, some siblings copy or think older because they have an older sibling. Just by default.

ie: a woman I know, has 2 daughters. One is 10 years old. The other in 10th grade. So the 10th grader shops for clothing at "older" stores. Teenager stuff/fashions. WELL, the woman tells me how, her 10 year old, wants underwear, just like her older sister. Ahem. The older sister, because she is older/bigger etc., shops for underwear in the women's department, at the local department store here. BUT, that is grown-up women underwear. Not those 12-pack cotton "Fruit of the Loom" or "Hanes" girl....type underwear. But adult, styled, underwear, that is lacy and why the heck, the woman says, should a 10 year old even have... lacy "grown-up" underwear when they have no one to even wear underwear for????? But the 10 year old, wants to be like her older sister. And the woman, was venting about how her 10 year old... is just too ahead of her age.
Anyway, just an interesting story.

I came across a letter from my son's girlfriend. I started reading it but I had to stop! I felt like I was being too intrusive.
Of course, they are 20, not 10, big difference!!!
