Leaky Diapers - San Antonio,TX

Hello All,

My daughter's diaper keeps leaking out at night. I tried Pampers and Huggies night time diapers and both leak. I keep having to change her bed sheet and bed protector every night almost. She doesn't even drink anything before bed. Is there some type of diaper cover that I can put over the diaper to keep it from leaking, or something else. Suggestions would be wonderful.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

She is at the bottom weight group of her current diapers, so she is too big for the diapers below her size and she is lower weight for the diapers she is in now.

This happened to me with my daughter and I just used the next size up diaper at night and I had no more leaks. Even though she was too small, weight wise, for the next size - the diapers never came off and I had no more overnight leaks.

Does she need to move up to the next size?

You could try the G diaper covers (Whole Foods and some grocery stores like HEB carry them.) They velcro in the back and are like covers for cloth diapers. You can also try Gerber plastic pants you can get at Walmart, Target, wherever.

You could order a cover online from a cloth diaper company or diaperswapers.com I have some covers for sale for $5 each, maybe I have the size you need?

Good luck, I know a lot of babies just don't wear the disposable diapers well/they don't fit.

My daughter leaked in Huggies and Pampers and Luvs. She did not leak in the cheaper diapers from Sam's Club. HEB Baby were the next best, but believe it or not, Sam's Club store brand diapers were the best. (I think they're called Smiles or something like that.) My son doesn't leak in Huggies. I think it's all in the way each baby is shaped.

If you don't have a Sam's Club card you might consider going with a friend or an acquaintance who is a member first to Sam's to buy them and make sure they work before you invest in your own membership, if this is the only reason you were going to get it.

You might want to try the next size up. That worked for us at night.

I use to use diaper booster pads inside my daughter's diaper at night, they look like a maxi pad and I always liked the brand Especially for Baby diaper-both of these items can be found at Babies-R-Us. I use to try all different kinds of diapers and that brand was the most absorbent, so it was worth making the special trip to Babies-R-Us to get them and they usually had good sales. Wishing you leak free nights to come :)

We had a lot of problems with leaky diapers. Here is what worked for us... First, we use a size bigger than what the package says for her weight (and then cinch it very tight). Second, we make sure the elastic isn't curled under. And finally, we switched to the more expensive premium diapers rather than the "regular" ones.

My girls often come home from grandmas with leaking diapers. It took investigation, but I found out that she was not always running her fingers under the inner elastic (often blue part on Luvs and I think Huggies. It has to be "raised" or "fluffed" up to form a seal on your little ones skin. Sometimes my MIL would mistakenly have the edge of the diaper mistakenly tucked under the inner elastic. We quit using Huggies Nitetime diapers because the next size up regulars worked just as well and you get more for less money.

Usually the issue is either that the absorbent material is touching something else (like the pjs) and the moisture is wicking, or the legs or waist are so loose that the liquid is literally running out before it can absorb. So, a smaller size, or make sure the plastic wrap part is well over the lining...

I had just barley figured out what to do with my son's leaking. Hemp inserts!! I cloth diaper but these you can (I have tried it and it works) put them in disposables. I put a thristies doubler and then a hemp one (I hear the hemp can dry out skin) in the diaper. So I hope this helps!
