My husband and I are not happy w/ our pediatrician. He just doesn't seem like he wants to listen to our conserns and makes us feel stupid for seeking out other means of help for our son. I am ready to get a doctor that listens to us. Our son is 10 months old. He was born at 3 pounds thanks to my ob not listening when I told her my symptoms of lossing fluids and the baby not moving. He has had a few minor medical problems, but most of them are ok now, thanks to physical therapy!

What can I do next?

We see Dr. Morchower in Richardson off Arapaho and 75. We have quite a bit of a drive ourselves but he is worth it (both doctor and 8-month-old son). He was listed in Texas Monthly as one of the best pediatricians in Dallas, and we've been very happy w/ him. Like you, I had problems with my pregnancy and my son was born at 4 lbs with gastroschisis. Dr. Morchower listens well and values a mother's "gut feeling". God gave us mother's instinct for a reason!

If you have any more questions, please email me any time!

I am using Dr. Bala at Baylor Family Health Center in Mesquite. Her number is ###-###-####. My daughter is only 3 months old so we don't have a lot of experience yet, but so far I have been happy. She came highly recommended by my OBGYN and is busy but will take time to answer your questions. She seems to really love babies.

I don't know of any good pediatricians in Mesquite, but my kids live with their dad in Arlington and go to one there, if you feel that would be convenient, let me know and I'll be happy to share that information with you. However, in the Mesquite area, DO NOT send your child to Dr. Po Wong. He is a family practitioner, and also takes children. He's popular as he is open on weekends and takes walk-ins. But he is infamously called DR. WRONG for missing diagnosises for various things and prescribing too much or the wrong kinds of medicines for various problems. Just thought you might like to know that.....

I go to Dr. Lisa Swanson in Mesquite. Her # is ###-###-####. My son was also 3 lbs at birth due to an incompetent OBGYN. I am very happy with Dr. Swanson. A warning though - you will wait a long time to see her. Usually 45-60 minutes waiting to get in the room, then another 45-60 mintues waiting for the Dr. herself to enter. BUT this is not because she overbooks, this is because she will spend an hour with you and your son! No brush-offs and that means a lot to me. She listens and gives me credit for being the one who know my son best. My husband is not crazy about her, but he doesn't like to wait. So for routine things, he will take our son to see the nurse instead. She has 2-3 nurses you can see without having to wait.

I just sent you comments on Pediatric Associates. We live at 175 and I-20 (which is very close to Mesquite) and the drive is about 25 minutes.
