My daughter found a site that has the baby bedding she wants on it,but the problem is the cost. It comes to about $500.00. I know the names of the material she likes, but have not had any success finding it so I can make the stuff she wants. How do I get specific material for a baby bedding set?

What can I do next?

I went with my daughter 8 years back to this store called Baby Bedding, they do custom work with materials it is in Arlington...I have no idea if the business is still there
She had a round baby bed and they made the sheets and quilt from the materials she picked from their cloth supplies. Their is Hancocks Fabric Store off in s strip of shops off Bowen Rd that may have some fabrics too we shopped there.
Sincerely, Mrs. B

You can go to sites like www.bizrate.com www.shopzilla.com or www.nextag.com and search for that particular set by name. It will help you find the cheapest price. I saved over $2000 on our nursery as a whole by doing that. I also am about to start sewing baby bedding and can do something like that for you if you pick the fabric. It would be a couple of 100 less depending on what types of fabric and what all you want (valance, lamp, etc). You can check out some of my stuff on my site, but I haven't gotten baby bedding yet. www.MammaGs.webs.com

Good luck, but don't settle for the first price you find!

If you found the bedding set at a specialty site they might be able to sell you the fabric. If you know the brand of the bedding you might call Lone Star Baby & Kids. They can order alot of fabric from vendors if you know who makes the bedding she likes.

I agree with the other post on calling grahamkracker. I purchased my son's bedding there and I know they said I could buy yards of material. I bet they will have exactly what she wants. If I remember correctly it was about 17 dollars per yard.

Hi T.,

I found some hard to locate material (also from my daughter's crib bedding) at fabric.com. You might just look through their selections. They had all the fabric that Glenna Jean used for her bedding and curtains. I was able to make her curtains for much less that what they wanted. Worth a look.

Good Luck,
K.

Check ebay or craigslist first. Also I used to go to a playgroup and one of the ladies would go to Dallas fabric stores and find everything she wanted so maybe search fabric stores and look in all of those places. It was wholesale but she did not have to buy bulk. K.

Try looking for what she wants on e-bay. I got my VERY expensive pottery barn bedding on e-bay for half the price. It was awesome.

I would ask her to pick something a little more realistic in price. after all the baby will probably puke on it and leak the diapers on it. and it is for such a short amount of time to be investing that much money in bumpers.
maybe you can get the main piece from there and make the rest of the stuff with solids and edging that will match. surely you can match the fabric with a solid somewhere, that is cheaper than that. especially if you know how to sew, it should be fairly easy for you to whip something just as cute and "custom" made by grandma that will be a keepsake for later.
you might try ebay for a used set. that might work on some of the pieces that won't be used as much.
good luck,
L.

You may be able to get the material from www.babysupermall.com -- they sell it for the bedding I bought. Although it is still very pricey! FYI – you can order a sample of the material from them for $3. That way you can have a swatch to take with you to try to match. And when I ordered the sample I received a discount coupon shortly after for their site if I ordered the bedding.

I bought my bedding on ebay at a substantial discount. It was brand new -- shipped from the manufacturer. However, that took a couple of weeks to win at a price I was willing to pay. And I was able to get the mobile and diaper stacker that match the bedding – and it was still much less than I would have paid at the baby store that sold my bedding.

Have you tried seeing if Hancock Fabrics or JoAnns might have it? If you have a picture of the fabric they may have it or could do a special order.
Just keep in mine what you see in the store may not be available in the fabric stores. Look also in stores that sell sheets and childrens bedding. Use the bedding to make what your wanting.

I made my baby bedding last year. I was surprised to find most of the popular materials at Hancock Fabrics. Many of the bedding sets that you'll find online have been made from the exact fabric that you'll find at Hancock! I spent $145 instead of $400. Google it to find a store near you.

What is the name of the material and do you know the manufacturer/designer who makes it? I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Not sure what you are looking for, but I have a very "funky" and unique primary colored set for sale right now. It is very fun and bright, if you are interested. It is Glenna Jean and sold for $219.99 new. I'm selling it for $90 and have lots of pictures.

go to a fabric store, wal-mart, hobby store, any store that sells fabric. Take photos/flies/whatever with pictures of what our kid wants. Or check at less costly stores. A lot of times they'll have the same items, at less cost. Search online. Good luck.
