i don't know about classes but i wanted to chime in because we share the same type of parenting style (which seems so rare in arizona)! have you checked out the "gentle discipline" boards on www.mothering.com? also i really like byron katie's stuff (you can see her at www.thework.org). she sometimes has childrens' classes (though they are usually in california). she does great communication stuff. good luck (and i had a homebirth 13 months ago!)

oh and in response to the woman who wrote about how evil the family bed is - please do not be persuaded by her. the family bed is awesome and so natural. only recently has the bed been "sexualized." how do you think we have slept for millions of years? the same way that all primates have - with their babies (and toddlers, and youngsters). at the end of the day we are primates and we need all the touch that we can get. i have found sleeping with my baby one of the best experiences of my life. and so has my husband.
i would also recommend looking at some yahoo groups regarding "consensual living" regarding how to interact with your child. it might be more appropriate than some of the advice you get here. (oh and the mothering.com forums also have a nighttime forum that encourages the family bed!)
Sometimes your health insurance has a program that could help you. Ask your husband if he can give you the phone number of his HR rep. and contact them. Also, if your son attends a public school in Glendale, they also have licensed staff that can direct you in the right way if they are not able to assist you personally.
Though all my children are grown and out of the house, I have 3 grandchildren that visit regularly. 2 are my daughters / 1 my sons. Each are not being brought up in the Mom/Dad/Child family situation, so as grandparents, we sit with my daughters children and read together. 1 is 11yr. the other 4 yrs. but we find something of interest for both and gradually they bring out inner feelings that I'm sure my daughter isn't even aware of. We never critize what they have to say. Remember, if you ask a question you need to be prepared for whatever answer they give you. If you overreact they clam up and its forever before they open up again. Do it now, while he is still learning to openly talk because otherwise, they learn quickly to tell you only the things they know you want to hear.

I recently went to counseling at Jewish Family services and they are having a parenting class starting March 1st. It is located on Bell rd and 63rd ave. It is on Saturdays for 6 weeks. The # is ###-###-####. Otherwise sometimes you can go online and they will post them.
I heard that Vineyard Church on Cactus and I think 60th something Ave is starting parenting classes this weekend. I was going to go online to check out their teen parenting class since we have a "tween" girl.
My husband and I attended a FANTASTIC parenting class - It is through Parents Anonymous. It is 12 weeks, if I remember correctly 2 tims a week. They offer free child care. I HIGHLY recommend this highly!
