I hope it's not scarlet fever, J.. My little sister had that when she was 5. Her doctor missed the strep diagnosis, so she wasn't treated with antibiotics, so she got scarlet fever. Her skin sloughed off - she truly looked like one of those zombies, and it was scary. It also affected her joints and she couldn't walk for a week.

I was in college, and my family brought her to my senior concert without warning me about what had happened. (They didn't want to worry me.) She was well by then, but it took a long time for her skin to heal. I'll never forget how bad she looked. And she was very, very sick.

Make sure you get her into the doctor. They will want to check her over.

If it's scarlet fever, it can damage the heart permanently
If it's just a mild strep rash, no worries
If it's an antibiotic allergic reaction you need to change antibiotics

Without an eye on the rash, there's no way to tell which of the 3, with 2 of them VERY serious.

Sounds like scarletina *(sp??) Its the modern day scarlet fever. It is a rash caused by too much toxins in the blood. It should go away on its own.

Or else it is rosiala which again is just a rash from a fever.

If he/she is on antibiotics for the the strep they should be fine. But call the Dr. if you are truly concerned.

Sounds like it's turning into scarlett fever. Had that happen to my boys. Call the doc and see what he says.

Scarlatina/Scarlet fever is a rash associated with strep throat.
If it is truly strep she should be on an antibiotic, like amoxicillin or penicillin and the rash will heal as the medicines start working.
You can give a tepid baking soda bath.
Tylenol every 4 hours
Popsicles/pedialyte popsicles

Sorry about the baby. Poor thing, we've had many bouts of strep throat.
