My 3 month old has been sleeping through the night and only fusses a little when she is ready to eat. She sleep in our room and I wondered if we should move her to her crib now before she realizes whats going on. We did not have a good transformation with our first daughter when she was 9 months old.

What can I do next?

I think you should move her now. How wonderful that she is sleeping through the night and she may even do better in her own space.

I got lucky our daughter has slept through the night since she was born! But I moved her into her own room about 3 months in the bassinet because I still didn't have a crib yet. But she did really well and I kept her close to the monitor and the door so that I didn't have to trip over anything to get to her. I would say if your feeling like your wanting some mommy time and space then it is good to go ahead and move her now since their attention span and memory are really short at this time. Also like previously stated if you have a routine at night keep it up in her room. otherwise good luck and hope you it works however you choose to do it.

We had our daughter in our room for 10 weeks after she was born (in a bassinet). We moved her when she outgrew the bassinet and into a crib. She transitioned very well!!! I think it's best for you to move her now. If you have a nightly routine, continue it in her room. If you don't have one, this is a good time to institute one!

Yes, it will be easier on both of you to do the move sooner than later. All of my babies were in their cribs in their own bedroom by two months old. Their bedroom is right next to mine and I left the doors open so I could hear them. Being a light sleeper and having them so close, I never even needed a baby monitor.

Hi Cristy,

When and where you move your baby to sleep really is a personal decision. If you expect your baby to sleep in a crib in another room away from you and your husband it will certainly make the transition much easier if you move the baby earlier then later. As you discovered with your first one, all children become accustomed to the routine that you set.

For comfort for you - if you haven't already pick up baby monitors - garage sales are a great place to find them too.

When my girls were little we didn't have them, but I do still use a set now with my grandchildren.

Good luck with the transition.

All I can say is that humans are the only mammals that have babies and make them sleep by themselves.

We moved our son into his room around 6 weeks old, I would start him out there and then when he woke up to eat I would put him in the bassinet in our room for the rest of the night, so I could hear him if he would spit up, etc. I did not want him to get used to our breathing noises at night...I did use a monitor up until 7 months old for peace of mind.

Hi C., we moved both of ours out of our room when they started to roll over on their own, about 4 months. They were in a cradle and we didn't want them getting hurt by rolling to much. It was an easy transition and we used a monitor to keep tabs during the night and nap time.
As for humans being the only mammals to not sleep with their babies, well we also have bigger brains and lots to do during the day and don't have time to sleep during the day, lol. Don't let this stress you out. Good luck and God Bless.

I think it's better to do it sooner than later...you can always get a monitor so you hear her if she wakes up

My 4 month old has been sleeping in his own room for about a month now. I started off by putting him down for naps in his crib so he would get used to it. I did this for a few days and then just tried it at night. He did great, in fact better then when he was in our room. I think we would disturb him when we were going to bed. He's sleeping like an angel now!

My son is almost 3 months and I am getting ready to move him to his bedroom. Mostly I am doing this b/c my husbands alarm goes off at 4:30 & I do not want my son to start waking up that early. He is not in our bed, so I don't think there will be a problem. I did go out and buy the new summer infant best view monitor. It has controls on the hand held part where you can actually move the camera and zoom in. I really like it. I just need my hubby to help me get the camera mounted and get the bumpers out of the crib (he tied them in, and I can not get them untied).

We moved ours at 3 months and that worked well. (I'm sure M will be fine.)

Good Morning C., This is one thing that is completely up to you. We didn't have monitors when our son's were babies, and I just couldn't let them be alone in a different room. I would have to go through the living room, kitchen and hallway to get to them. Even though our rooms were right next to each other. ( old house and previous owners sealed the door between them) I kept both of them with us in a crib, until they were 6-8 months I was so afraid of SID's.

If this is something you feel you can do, go for it.
Completely up to you and hubby.

God Bless and bless your wonderful family

Hello. My daughter is now 6 months old. I moved her to her room when she was about 8 weeks. I tried keeping her in the bassinet next to my bed and it seemed like neither one of us were getting any sleep. Everytime she made the slightest sound I would lean over and look in and touch her. One night I was so exhausted I was practically in tears. I thought to myself, ok, she has just eaten and burped and has a clean diaper. I put her in her crib because I knew she was safe there and brought the baby monitor with me to the couch. I fell asleep and she fell asleep and we both slept for 5 hours straight! I was like wow, maybe she just needed her owns space and for me not to be peeking in on her and touching her everytime she made a sound. Each week she slept a little longer. Now she sleeps most nights all through from 9:00 - 6:30. Another thing I do is put her in her crib before she is asleep. I just lay her down, turn on the little music box, and rub her belly a little while telling her mommy loves her. Then I leave the room and she falls asleep on her own. I caught her dad trying to rock her completely to sleep one night before putting her in her crib and I said oh no you don't! I love the fact that she's in the habit of falling asleep on her own. I know all babies are different though. Good luck :)
