Moving to Alpharetta

L.M. asks from Alpharetta, GA

My family is moving to Alpharetta from Texas and I am looking for family friendly neighborhoods to start searching for a home to buy. I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter who won't start school for a while but I'd like to get her started in a great school. Also, any suggestions for good Mother's Day Out programs would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

L.-
It really depends on where in Alpharetta you want to live and how much you want to spend... it varies a ton. But here is some quick things I have picked-up living in the area.
1) try to find a neighborhood that has sidewalks/ community pool and playground... they are great ways to meet your neighbors.
2) try for newer neighborhoods- they seem to be very transit (alot of turn over which is easier to meet new people).
3) if you are open to it... look in Suwanee or Cumming... located in South Forsyth... instead of Alpharetta. It's a great area with lots of new developments... but the best part of all your taxes will be about 1/3 less than Alpharetta, Fulton County ( we moved here got a larger house a better school system and pay less in taxes than in Alpharetta.
4) MOPS (mother of preschoolers) is a great group in Forsyth County... and when school is in session they meet 2 times a month... and offer sitting services during the meeting;)
Best of Luck!!!! and I hope your move goes well!
And if you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me I will try to help!... I know some great agents in the area too... so let me know if you need help finding one!

Hey! I don't live in Alpharetta, but if you are looking for a mom's perspective on the area, then go to mops.org and put in the area code of where you want to live. You'll get several local MOPS groups that you can call, or email through their web site and get 'inside information' on the neighborhoods and schools. It's also a ready made community/support group for moms and their little ones. Good luck with the move!!

One of which we received an email last night thats its going on the market today (for sale by owner) and it is very nice. I also love my son's preschool too.

Hi L.,

You've probably already moved to Alpharetta but I just found this web site this evening. I've been living in Alpharetta for over 9 years and have two kids, a nine year old daughter (4th grade) and a six year old son (kindergarten).

This is the best place to live, with great schools and parks everywhere.

Whether you've moved here already or not please contact me, I'd be happy to help you find your way around.
