My 2 children and I are looking to move after my husband is granted the divorce he wants. My children are 5 and 6. We are looking to move somewhere in the north Fulton area, alpharetta, roswell.
Can anyone recommend subdivisions that are LOADED with small kids? We are in a subdivision now with no playmates as all of the kids are 8 or older. I need kindergarders, etc!!
Please help me find the right place to live.
Our price range is $250-$350ish. Maybe I could find a foreclosure!

Thanks!

I live in East Cobb in Plains Estates -- it's a smaller, older subdivision, but the schools from Elementary to HS are all in the top 10 or 20 for the state (Mt View Elementary, Simpson Middle, and Sprayberry High).

I love living here because I can trust my daughter (7) to go over to her friend's and know it's a no-cut-through, less than 100 home neighborhood, and my son (3) can play with us and not get plowed over:)

We purchase our house as new construction and the street started with no kids...now our street with 8 houses down (total of 16) has 9 kiddos. People move, especially with the economy the way it is.

I would first look at test scores of the various elementary school districts on line and use this as my criteria to buy a home since your children's future education should come 1st. THis is how we chose the area to live in when we moved then consider the family friendly neighborhoods. Your kids will make most of their friends in school. Nex,t I would call the highest scoring elementary schools in those areas and ask the principal or asst. princip. where a good subdivision is that many of the childen who attend school there live. A good realtor should be able to assist too. Hope this helps.

Then you need to look into Bridle Ridge off of 141. Great community with
lots of kids and activities. Good luck!

East Cobb (in Marietta) just west of Roswell is loaded with kids. When looking on realtor.com or another site there are tons of neighborhoods off of Roswell Rd (120) and Lower Roswell Road and north on Johnson Ferry Rd, even Sewell Mill. There are tons of kids in most of these neighborhoods because the school system is so great here. We live in EastHampton off of Roswell Rd and love it. Good luck to you and your little ones. :-)

If Cherokee County (Holly Springs/Woodstock) isn't too far, we live in Harmony on the Lakes. Aside from numerous foreclosures (don't all subdivisions have them?), Harmony is extremely kid-friendly. For the elementary school (Holly Springs Elementary School), there are five buses each afternoon.

It's about 20 minutes away from Roswell/Alpharetta down Highway 140.

Good luck!

Hi K.,

I live in Alpharetta and have for 11+ years. My children are a bit older than yours (son is 8 yo and daughter is 12 yo) but I know the area very well.

One subdivision you should check out in Alpharetta is Breckenridge. It goes to Barnwell Elementary, an excellent school. There are tons of little kids in that n'hood and it is swim/tennis.

I highly recommend buying in a swim/tennis n'hood since that is where families gravitate toward and it offers many opportunities to meet the neighbors.

I'm a Realtor and if you would like for me to do a search for you I'd be more than happy to.

Good luck,
L.

Hi K.,

I just relocated here from out of state, but we're currently renting a home in BridgeMill in Canton, GA. There are TONS of little kids around here! My daughter is in 1st grade, going to Sixes, which was rated 5 stars on the school digger website, we did research before moving into a community, so far so good. LOTS of kids, very nice area. Good luck to you!!

Hi K.-

I don't know your area but from experience new construction neighborhoods usually start out with all young families with lots of kids. I worked for a builder for a while and my husband and I have bought new construction twice and it's never disappointed as far as having kids in the neighborhood.

Good luck,
K.

We just moved to Cumming from NC. I think it's just North of where you're talking about. It's in Forsyth Co. However, the subdivision we moved into is LOADED with young families. In fact, I think we almost fill a bus for the elementary school. (Sawnee Elementary) It's a swim/tennis community, and there are several play areas scattered about. There are several homes for sale, and they are also building on a few lots. Homes start in the $180's so it'd be well within (below) your price range. Hope that helps!
