She doesn't seem bothered by it. It happened today and she really seems fine. It is really ugly and red, but she doesn't seem hurt or anything. It bleed a little bit, but it is better....still red, but bleeding has stopped. I didn't do anything to it as of yet....should I?

What can I do next?

I'd leave it alone. I wouldn't put anything on it that she could lick and ingest, like an antibacterial cream (neosporin, etc.) - those aren't meant for the tongue or mouth! Ice should reduce the swelling but be careful that you don't reactivate the bleeding. Leave it alone and it will heal faster.

K.!! Welcome to Mamapedia!!!

that's GREAT that it stopped bleeding facial wounds tend to bleed the most even when they aren't bad...

I would let her suck on a Popsicle or put ice on it to keep the swelling down.

Good luck!!

Let her eat a popsicle. The cold will help with the swelling. Good luck.

If it is mostly swollen and not something you are thinking "stitches" about... then the best thing is just to give her a popsicle. Seriously.

Any time a kid of mine (or friend of my kid) has gotten a bang on the mouth (no teeth damage/issues---just the busted lip)... I give them a popsicle immediately. They love it/makes them happy. It takes their mind off their boo-boo. AND it is like applying an ice-pack to the swelling. Win, win, win.
And usually, it is a fairly good indicator of exactly how bad (or not) the wound is. If they stop crying for the popsicle,..... welll....... it can't be THAT bad, right? But if they are still crying or complaining that it hurts a minute into the popsicle...I'd give it a 2nd look and consider more aggressive care.

Mouths and lips heal very quickly. How did she do it? Poor kid.
Ice cream, cold drinks, etc will all help with swelling (if there is any swelling)

As others have said ice it. Whatever way works best for you. Babies are almost impossible to get ice on an injury. I would also call her doctor. If the split is bad she may need a stitch or two to prevent scarring. Depending on how bad the split is or where it is she may have difficulty learning to speak with the scar.

ice -- ice -- ice lots of ice.

Give hugs from all us Moms we have all been there.

It will heal - I would leave it. Maybe a little liquid ibuprofen if it seems to be bothering her.
I thought I'd mention that my son had several fat lips as a toddler. It turned out he had lazy eye, which was effecting his vision. I think that's why he kept tripping. Not sure if that's relevant, but just in case...

I agree with cold popsicles to keep the swelling down, if there is a cut I'd put a little neosporine on it. She'll be fine. Won't be the first busted lip unfortunately.
