leave it alone.the mouth heals the fastest so it should heal quickly. just watch for signs of infection that would need medical attention
My 9 yo grandson slipped in the bathtub & cut his inside lip with his tooth. It bled like crazy.. He told his mom that it doesn't hurt, but she noticed that he is talking funny. Any ideas on how to make it heal faster ?

A similar thing Happened to my son, but with a bike. Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day.The mouth heals faster than anywhere on the body so it'll be gone soon enough.
He's talking funny because the lip is swollen inside. The mouth has a lot of blood vessels so a lot of bleeding doesn't surprise me. If he big his tongue in the process, that could have an effect too. I'm assuming he didn't injure teeth or gums, or you'd have mentioned that.
Don't let anyone keep pulling the lip to look at the wound. If you find he's running his tongue along that spot, try to discourage him. That will increase inflammation and delay healing. Leave it alone. If it's still raw, I would discourage acidic foods for a few days. Sucking on ice or a popsicle might help the swelling but mostly you have to wait for the blood to absorb and the wound to heal on its own. The skin is an amazing organ and responds well if you just let it be.
He is probably talking funny because he make have an ulcer that came up at the bite area that hurts not to mention the swelling as well.
If he can handle it... Original Listerine helps but can burn. Salt water is also good for it. IF he has a sore where he bit it, bet some Orabase from the pharmacy. It is a paste you put on the sore that helps heal and numbs the area.
He is 9 so if he told mom is does not hurt, the odd speech is more than likely the swelling.
You can leave it and really should. But if it is interferring and if he is embarrassed by it, he can put warm compresses on his lip. This will help any blood that pooled under the spot get absorbed a bit faster. I found out that heat can help with this when my youngest was a week old. Cold can help with swelling so if it hurts, then a popsicle or sucking on an ice cube can help give some relief.
