When my son has an ear infection he won't hardly eat anything. Maybe she not feeling well. If it continues I'd take her to the dr.
These last couple days my daughter will not eat.. Will not take a bottle. Screams her head off everytime I try to feed her. I am afraid she will starve.. Which I have been told that when she is hungry she will eat. I don't want to wait until she is starving to get her to eat. I don't know if she is not feeling too good or what the deal. Any suggestion??
She is doing much better. Finally eating. I tried putting Orajel on her gums before she ate. That helped a lot. Thanks for the wonderful advice :)

Like other's have said, call the doctor.
My daughter rarely had a fever with ear infections or strep until it was really bad. But each time her eating would drastically cut down or stop. I have now learned to watch for that sign. I purchased my own Otoscope (the thing the doctor uses to see in your ears and throat)(bought it online for $20)
That way I know immediately, is she just being picky this day or am I calling the doctor because I see her throat is sore or her ear drum is red.
You state it's already been a couple of days...it's time to contact your physician and make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. Babies can get dehydrated quickly. Is she still wetting her diapers? It could be as simple as a sore throat, which left untreated could lead to a secondary infection, or infected ears, etc. But, you need help diagnosing her problem. She's trying to tell you something. Call right away especially if this is persisting. Here's hoping it's no big deal and she will be back to normal very soon! But, call anyway!
Hi Bobbie,
It might be that her gums hurt if she is teething, give her some tylenol/motrin alternate for the next couple of days and give her some of those Hylands teething tablets, I give my daughter 3 of them. She is 7 months old. Hopefully this helps you W.
most kids go through phases like this then there are other times when they won't stop eating. I bet you could sneak a bottle or nursing session in when she's drifting off to sleep.
Look inside her mouth...if you see tiny white dots, she may have "Thrush". If so, see your doc right away. My daughter had it at about 2-3 months of age. It hurts to eat or swallow or even suck on a bottle. Good luck!
Sounds like she's teething or has a sore throat. Give her some baby Tylenol and use teething ointment. I would call your doctor and have her checked out for a throat or mouth problem. My little niece just got over an awful case of a viral infection in her mouth and throat. That child didn't eat for several days. It was so sad. She was in a lot of pain but her doctor gave her some medicine that helped with the symptoms so that she could eat again.
good luck
If my girls had a sore throat they would not eat or take a bottle, often my oldest would have no signs that her throat was hurting other that the fact that she would not eat or drink.
Teething is usually the problem when this happens. Although a sore throat could be it, as well.
Also, if she is only on bottles, check the temperature, the nipple, the formula brand -- anything that might have made her not like it. (I had this bappen with my first, and it was because we weren't making the bottles warm enough for him. Another time, the nipple was letting too much out at once -- that one took me about a week to figure out!)
I would try giving her other things, as well, until you figure it out -- water, cereal, whatever might keep her belly full and keep her from getting dehydrated.
Good luck with this!
Watch for dehydration if she won't even drink. Most kids like Pedialite (sp?) type stuff.
Do you give her baby food yet? Like solid food? That was my issue with my daughter. She wouldn't take her bottle so I made her a bowl of cereal, she ate it. I even had to make her more!! :) She eats baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and still has a few bottles during the day too.
