My Boobs Hurt!

My breasts are tender, and have been for a few days now. I'm on the pill so I can't be pregnant, or can I? I haven't remembered my breasts ever hurting like this except when I was first pregnant with our son. I'm not due for my period for atleast 1.5 weeks so I haven't missed yet. Is there any other reason why my boobs would hurt like they do? Or is there any way to see if I am pregnant, because those pee on the stick kind of tests aren't accurate until after you missed a period.

What can I do next?

Actually they have pregnancy tests now that are accurate like 4-5 days before your period is due, so you might want to try one of those. I don't know of another reason they would hurt so much (but that doesn't mean anything).

You may want to watch your caffine intake. If you drink a lot of coffe or soda (or anything else with caffine in it), it can cause swelling and tenderness in your breasts, especially around your menstral cycle. This happens to me about 10 days before I start my period and my breasts get more and more sore until I start, when the swelling and tenderness goes away. My mom actually had to cut out caffine completly because it the soreness it caused was so bad, and it caused fiberous cysts in her breasts. She doesn't have ay more problems now that she has eliminated caffine from her diet. I'm a caffine junkie myself, so it's just something I endure. Good luck!

Ummm...That's how I found out I was pregnant! I was on the pill. They have early pregnancy tests, but you still may not found out until you miss a period.

Good luck!

I became pregnant with my first on B.C. So, yes, you can become pregnant on the pill. However, my breast would become tender about a week before my period and some months they were more tender than others.

I believe there are HPT that can give you results a week before your period. I also believe that your doctor can do a blood draw and check you hCG levels.

Did you do anything that would hinder the birth control useless this month? i.e. anitibiotics? There are certain medicines that affect the pill. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are pregnant, take heart and don't panic just yet. The only thing that keeps my sanity when I think I may be is just taking a test. Early tests are pretty accurate. It could really ease your mind. Good luck!

Sorry I don't have an answer for your hurting boobs, but I am curious to learn more about what you do working from home. I just had a baby and would really like to stay home. Unfortunately, we can't afford to live on one income. Could you fill me in?

It's probably hormones. My boobs didn't hurt when I was pg until the week I would have gotten my period. Are you on a low dose? You have to be VERY careful to take the pill at the same time each day, so if you missed it by even an hour, there's a small chance you ovulated. Pee on a stick to check and take some vitamins and extra folic acid just to cover your bases. Then if you don't get your period, try the test again.
Good Luck and keep us updated!!

Well it is possible to still get pregnant on the pill. How long have you been on it because I have heard that after 4 years or so it becomes less effective...but dont quote me..just what I have been told. I have an 11 month old and I went off the pill to get pregnant and it only took 3 weeks or so but I do remember that I took a test before my missed period and your right it came out negative but a week after my missed period it said positive. I remember that with my first child my boobs never really hurt but with my second they hurt like hell right away...I think it lasted a month or so..hope this helps!

Sometimes mine will hurt a lot worse than normal, but usually I figure out later I did something strenuous, like moving a piece of furniture or picking up something heavy, or doing weights if I exercise (whis is rare :).

Then too I'd ask if you have been feeling well lately, had any kind of viral infection, something like that. The lymph nodes in your armpits can get inflamed sometimes from an illness, doing double time to produce white blood cells to fight infection, and make the entire regoin surrounding it, inclusing the pectoral muscles under the breast, to get a little sore. I wouldn't worry too much, if they start to swell you might worry a little more, and I would make sure you are doing your monthly self breast exam to ensure their aren't any lumps or anything you need to be concerned about.

Remember the pill is 99% effective if taken properly, so thst 1% kind of looms out there, though it's rare. And then too, you might just be at an age where your body is starting to change a little. My mid-twenties (which I'm still in) brought a few small changes with them, my skin got healthier, my periods got better, but the symtpoms of the periods changed. Instead of being bloated and crampy I got bitchy and hungry, and they last a little longer than they did before. But overall I do feel like it's an improvement, my body doesn't really get sore anymore and my headaches aren't as frequent during that time. See if other than your boobs something else is different? Don't stress, I'm sure your fine!
