Need a Good Boys Hairstylist!

When my oldest son was younger like your boys, I took to my stylist who did a great job. She didn't cut into any trendy style, just short to my liking. Now that he is 8 and my youngest son is 3, Daddy takes them to a family barber every other week. This guy's been in business for a few generations, so he's dealt with young boys who now bring in their young boys to his shop. Try looking in your area for something like this. They're cheaper than a stylist usually, and if they can do it with Daddy, then it becomes the "guy" thing to do.

As a hairstylist I will admit to you there aren't that many different cuts out there for men/boys. Alot of the difference you may see on boys is just the way their hair falls naturally, or the way they have it styled. For different looks on a simple "boys cut" try using a little gel and combing different ways. Some young hair is hard to style because it is so fine.

I am a hair stylist that specializes is children's hair. I have been doing this for about 12 yrs. But I live and work in Mechanicsburg, PA. Which I'm sure is too far to drive. But I would recommend to you to look through some magazines and find a picture you like and take that picture into the salon and show the stylist. Pictures are great, they can show people what you are thinking. I also would not recommend taking them to a barber. Barbers just dont know how to deal with kids and tend to do their hair very quickly to get them out. Kids also tend to not do as well with men. If you like a typical short boys haircut, you could say to the stylist, #3/#4 blend. That is what I do the most. The problem is, many stylist who dont know how to do kids will not blend it well. For my son, we usually just shave his head pretty short and leave a mohawk. Even when it's not styled "up", it's still a cute cut. If you're not into the mohawk look, I'd look through a few parenting mags with pictures of little boys and find a hair style you like and would good on your son. I'm sure a good stylist could work with a picture.
