Need Ideas, Hitting a Wall Here!

I seem to be having the diaper cake version of writer's block!
I've decided to add several more cakes to my etsy shop, but I REALLY want to come up with some unique and different themes for them. I've done the standard boy, girl, rubber ducky, jungle, flowers, etc. I've got a sock monkey cake and I'm currently working on a hot wheels race car one and a Sesame Street one.
I have other ideas that I think are good, but not all that unique, like Winnie the Pooh, Mickey/Minnie, Thomas, Rock Star, Hungry Caterpillar, Baseball, Ladybugs, Bumblebees and Princess.
So creative mamas, can you think of anything else? I'd really like to have some cakes that would stand out from the pack!
TIA :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Great ideas ladies! I especially love the monster idea, and Twinkle Little Star, that could be SO cute! And the "denim" diapers would be a great base for a western or cowboy/girl cake. Keep 'em coming, I can feel my creativity getting pumped with every response!!!
ReverendRuby I get where you are coming from but my cakes are considered resale items. In other words, I am not reproducing or manufacturing a product and calling it "Disney" for example. All the supplies have been legally purchased and are simply being resold in another form. It's like selling a gift basket, or a a quilt made out of a copyrighted fabric, or buying just about anything on ebay. It's all resale :)

Bath time theme - instead of diapers, use a towel and wash clothes, baby robe, rubber ducky.

Tangled theme - baby hair brush, hair clips

Jeans - use the 'denim' diapers

Hawaiian - leis, palm trees, baby palm onesie

I had to google 'diaper cake' to find out what you were talking about. Do you sell these ready-made, or as kits?

I would look for some nautical-theme/ocean themed stuff, ladybugs/bees/butterflies (oops, see this is on your list already). I wonder if you could use the chameleon from Eric Carle's "A Color of His Own" and use some batik fabric with sizing for a decoration? Cats, Rainbows, Dogs (remembering that the baby isn't the one who is enjoying the diaper cake, the parent, who may be a potential animal lover, is)...

You know, what I did see lacking was the more Eastern-inspired/Bohemian style of diaper cake. You could do something more glam, with rich colors for the burb cloths and shimmery ribbons and sequins to tie it all up. I think that some moms would appreciate something more to their own style tastes, or a bit mores sophisticated, so offering that choice might be fun.

how about favorite baseball or football or hockey teams? My daughter did a Greenbay packer one and it was very cute for someone in Wisconsin.

I'm not that creative but I *LOVE* that cute little monster theme that I've seen for babies. Maybe you could do something with that? I also love dinosaurs for the baby boys.

Take some inspiration from nursery rhymes and songs.

Also, animal prints are big right now so you could incorporate that.

What about bold prints, dots and stripes?

It seems like you only do kids cakes, but if not, don't forget Over the Hill and anniversary cakes! Also how about Fancy Nancy, Transformers, Thomas the Train, Star Wars, pirate, polka dots, fruit, pattern of all different kinds of candy(i.e the wrappers that everyone recognizes), snowmen/winter, police, army/camouflage themes, under the sea, fishing, teddy bears, sharks, Power Rangers, monkeys - when I think of more I'll be back!

Construction, Bob the Builder, Caillou, Strawberry Shortcake, Dora, ballet dancer, bunnies, rockets, fireflies.

I'm thinking of the theme parties I've been to. These aren't really unique but what about ...

Hawaiian
dump trucks
monster trucks
Curious George
Super Heros
cowboy
garden
Clifford
sailor (thought this was cute for a boy's room)

I actually went with the abcs and animals bedding from Toys R Us for my son. I think their stuff is so cute and sets the tone of the room. What about incorporating some of that stuff in the different design? It could match the baby's room. My friend made me some tubs with the crib sheet fabric wrapped around and decoupaged them. She also has an etsy shop.

I saw a cute one in the shape of a motorcycle. Good luck!

You have some great ideas here but BEFOREyou move forward with any of them look into the licensing requirments for each item. In order to use an Disney theme for instance you need to have permission from Disney and need to pay royalties to Disney. So you can use fairies but not Tinkerbell.
Any theme that relates to a current TV program, movie, book, Harley Davidson, The NFL, MLB ect are all trademarked and licensed properties. If you get caught you can be fined in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

My friend made my sister's diaper cake and shipped it from Texas to Maryland! She made a rock-star themed one for a baby girl.

- Zebra's are big now at least with the tweens, and I like it too
- Alphabet
- Numbers
- Airplanes
- Dance stuff

Can the parents tell you the "theme" of the nursery and go with that?
