If I were you I would invest in either disposable or washable waterproof pads for his bed, which would be placed on top of his sheets.
I forgot if you said that you limit his fluids in the evening, but that would be a good thing.
My son is 4, will be 5 in January, and has been potty trained since he was 2. He continues to have accidents almost every night so he wears a pull-up to bed. I have no concerns with putting him in a pull-up and he is fine with it also. My problem is that they seem to leak EVERY night. I have tried several out there and no one seems to be any better than another. I am having to wash sheets and comforters every day now. We have 5 kids so there is a lot of laundry anyway. This is just keeping me constantly behind!
Does anyone have any suggestions to anything that might work? I am open to cloth also if you have found those to be better at night! Thank you so much for your help!!

My daughter and son (4 and 3) both wear pullups to bed and for some reason my son's always leaked. I was buying the store brand pullups because they are so much cheaper but I was sick and tired of changing sheets all the time. I've found that Huggies Pull-Ups NightTime work great for my son. No more leaks. I buy them at Target. Good luck!
I love underjams. They still leak if he has a bad night but for the most part our sheets are dry. I have also found on the days I wake him up at 7am for school he is more dry than on the days he gets to sleep in.
I assume that it leaks in the morning because it's so full? If that is the case, I just read online somewhere this other mom's advice. (I'm sorry I don't remember the website. I am trying to get my daughter off the pull-ups at night, too, she's 4.) She said, if you have the will power to try this for atleast 2 weeks, it works. She said she set an alarm, got up at 2 AM every morning, and took her kid pee. Eventually, they wake up on their own and pee as needed. She did it with all of her kids. Since I'm due in 3 weeks, I will be up all night breastfeeding anyway so I'm gonna try it. Just a suggestion! Good luck!
Hi J.,
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I also have 5 young children, the oldest is 7. They ALL wear either pull-ups or diapers to bed! It is sooo expensive! I was interested to read what others had to say on this topic. My oldest 2 wear Goodnights (7 yr old girl & 5 yr old boy), middle wears overnight pull-ups (3 yr old boy), and my twin girls (16 mos) just wear their regular diapers. It has been REALLY bad lately with at least one, if not two-four, wetting through their pull-up/diaper EVERY night! I am pulling my hair out with laundry to do!!! Anyhow, I feel your pain...hopefully we BOTH get some good answers on here:) Good luck!
I can't remember the name exactly, but the ones at Dollar General in the dark blue or dark purple packs work great for my kids. My son has always had an issue with overflowing diapers & pullups & these are the only ones I've found that work for him.
You can go the cloth route and add more layers to get the desired level of absorbency. I recommend the Thirsties pocket all in ones, which you can stuff an extra "doubler" into. You could also do a prefold or fitted cloth diaper with a doubler and then put a wool diaper cover over the top. Wool is really soft and breathable and it can absorb many times its weight in liquid. It's also sort of self-cleaning - you only have to wash it when it gets stinky! You can e-mail me if you want more info - I have some of this stuff available. A. (at) goodnaturedbaby (dot) com.
Have you taken him to the Dr to see if there is an underlying issue? Just a thought. At any rate, I used lap pads on my son and daughters beds to eliminate the need to change sheets when they had accidents. They were AWESOME. I too had 5 children living at home and LOTS of laundry that needed to be done and I didn't feel like washing sheets as well. They sell ones that fit the entire length of a toddler bed. My sister n law gave them to me but I am pretty sure she bought them at WalMart. GOOD LUCK!!!
We use Underjams..they work pretty good, also u can put a pull up under it or just use it by itself.
Maybe cut down the amount of fluids consumed a couple hours before bedtime?

Pull ups never work for my son! He's 5 and wears diapers at night because he gets a liter of I.V. fluid (TPN) overnight and we don't feel the need for him to wake up to pee every hour! The only diapers that work for us are the Comfort line from Kroger. Granted, they still leak sometimes, but far less than any other brand. He weighs 38 pounds.
Good luck!
Are you using regular pull-ups or the bigger ones? If you are using the normal little kid ones try the 'big kid' ones like Huggies Good Nights or the Pampers ones. They are much more absorbant than the toddler pull-ups.
We use the nighttime pullups and don't usually have a problem with leaking through. The only problem is they are so darn expensive, I have three using them. I just recently bought Kooshies from Walmart. You can only get them on the Internet. We used them last night for the first time and no wet beds! They are washable diapers for 22-45 lbs. I would rather wash those daily then the bedding. We were spending $80.00 a month in pullups and thought this would pay for itself. They were $56.00 for 5 of them. Hope this helps.
Hey J.,
I personally have not had to deal with this, but my sister-in-law has & still does.. so i asked her.. her 5 year older daughter does the same & she puts the goodnites on her. But she also walks her daughter to the bathroom b4 she goes to bed.. so like 11 @ night.. But on top of that she watches her daughters choc intake b/c it's known to irritate the bladder & also she cuts her off from fluid intakes after dinner so bout 7 & her daughter goes to bed bout 8-8:30. Hopefully this may help you some.. Good Luck

have you tried the big kid ones, like goodnights, rather than pullups, or even limiting his fluid intake at night. if all else fails you could try adult products or the covers used with cloth diapers over a pullup.
J.,
I have had to deal with a similar situation. Just last week I finally weaned my son off of diapers at night. He is almost four and has been potty trained during the day for almost two years. I have used Huggies overnights for all my three children at night. They are fantastic! They do occasionally leak, but it is rare. The only problem is that the Hugggies overnights are hard to find. I have find them in Babies r us and Rite Aid. Good Luck!
Can you wake him up and take him to the bathroom right before you go to bed? Also, things like no fluids two hours before bed can help.
We ran into the same problem with our son. He is only 3 going on 4 so we put him back into diapers at night. We were careful to talk to him about it and told him that he is a big boy, but we can't have him pee through everything every night either. I know this might not work since your child is older, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. The diapers are just so much more absorbant.
