Hi All...I am so embarrassed. I am in a wedding in less than two weeks. I went to try on the dress last night and it is way to tight. When I purchased the dress in November it fit perfectly, I didn't even think to try it on sooner. So, now I need to loose 5-8 lbs to fit back into the dress. Any quick solutions...I am horrible at dieting, but I am willing to try anything. YIKES!

I lost 13 pounds in two weeks when I was 7 weeks post partum. I did not eat bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit, cokes or juice. I ate plenty of meat, cheese, salads and veggies. South Beach Diet...I have lost 32 pounds since December 4!!!

Have you considered having a tailor let out the dress at the seams? Sometimes you can gain an inch or so just by letting out the extra material! Good luck!

I would wear Spanx under the dress. That normally makes me fit a size 5-10 pounds smaller. I think that you can get them at Nordstroms and Neimans now. check www.spanx.com

there are 3500 calories in a lb. so you need to get rid of 28000 calories (8lbs). In a 2 mile walk you can probably burn 200-300 calories. Do this 4 times a week. Eat a lot of "unprocessed" foods i.e. fruit, veggies and STOP eating past 6 pm. This will probably do the trick. You can also take supplements like b12 and b6 to naturally increase your energy (not like a diet pill tho). I personally like to take the L-cartatene also. Drink LOTS of water to flush out any of the fluids you may be retaining too. LOW salt intake will help, no more that 1500 mg a day. I am a trainer and I see this all the time (holiday/vacation dieting). If you want to speed it up, eat less calories. Do not however consume less that 1200 calories a day, it is detrimental to your health. Good luck!

Slimfast is great too. I do a shake in the morning, a meal bar in the afternoon for lunch, followed by a Lean Cuisine for dinner. If you need to, you can add a fruit in between meals for a snack. I lose about a pound a day on this for the first few weeks. You should definitely be able to lose 5-8 lbs. Don't forget to drink a lot of water!

I have been losing weight by just eating one vegan meal a day and eating nomal the rest of the time (the weight is coming off but to slow for the wedding you will be in) My husband however lost 30lbs in 40 days. (He went totally vegan every meal for Lent) Just make sure you eat enough foods with iron, if you do decide to do this.

You're probably going to think this is silly, but try the subway diet. I needed to lose 5 lbs the week before prom so I ate fruit or cereal for breakfast and a 6 inch sub at lunch and dinner, NO CHIPS and I drank water or juice. Snack on things that are high in protein, like roasted nuts (not honey roasted)...protein will give you an energy boost too. I ended up losing 7 lbs. Of course, it won't work if you get the most fattening sandwich...get one of their 7 g. subs on wheat. And for exercise, I walked around my neighborhood for an hour, which equals a half hour of running, but it puts a lot less stress on your joints and you don't tire as fast.

hi there :) One thing that you can do as well is wear a body slimmer underneath your dress! You can find these on the low end at Walmart/Target and all the way to the high end at Niemens (thier called Spanx at Neimans and are wonderful!).

Not only does it slim you, but it gives everything a smoother tighter look.. I wear these all the time, even before baby so that everything looked firm under my dress pants and skirts lol

PS - they do have body slimming slips for under dresses, but they ride up.. its much better to get the to the thigh short slimmers.. you can get them so they slim all the way to the waist or not as well - Hanes has great stretchy lycra fabric :)

The soup diet is good, but I don't know if I could do it for two weeks. I loved the Daniel Diet and I keep it up in a modified form even now. You'll still need to not over eat and exercise (sorry, there is no magic) but it very do-able and I found it easy to follow and not boring.

Hey. I once lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks just by eating fruits and vegies. No exercise. Also, I highly recommend Spanx. Someone else said in an earlier comment that you could get them at Neimans. Well, I bought it at Lane Bryant for I think around $30. I wear it almost every day and LOVE it. Oprah and Tyra Banks highly recommend Spanx also. Try it!!

lots of water, decrease sugar intake, increase fiber and calcium (ex: yogurt)!!

Cut down on your carb intake (especially at dinner), drink lots of water and don't eat after 7 p.m. Nothing whatsoever! If you add exercise to this, the weight will fall off. Good luck!

A question I have for you since you have a 10-month old is: Are you breastfeeding? If so, I would be careful what you do as a diet as that could affect your milk supply.

Since you are wanting to lose such few pounds, the majority of that initial weight would be water anyway. You might want to try the Hollywood Miracle diet, a body wrap, or hang out in a steam room with an insulated suit. You still have to drink water as these items will clean out the toxins in your body. Just remember not to crash diet or you will really be worse off! Decrease/remove sodas, chips and sugars from your diet. If all else fails, buy a girdle! :)

The Curves diet is amazing... I lost 8 lbs to two weeks.

Go into your local Curves and see if you can buy a "member guide" $5. Inside is a 6 weeks diet, it's easy to follow and great source of fiber and its high protein.

You should always try to start elevating your heart rate for at least 20 minutes each day. :)

go to a place that does body wraps. you can lose like five inches, but it will come back after a certain amount of time. and its kind of pricy. but what costs more the dress or the wrap. but i have heard it works great for people

If you have the extra money.. you can look into thermal wraps at different spas. I'm not sure what different ones they have, but I know that some of them can really take a few inchess off of you in treatment. It might at least be something worth looking into.

Easy as 1-2-3. Egg whites,toast,and oatmeal for breakfast and then no or very low carbs for lunch or dinner. No carb diet only works for a short period of time and then flatlines so its not good for a prolonged diet...but if you only have 2 wks, then no carb is perfect.
Good lunch and dinner ideas are grilled chicken or fish with vegetables. (I higly recommend a George Foreman grill. They are little mini grills you can put in your kitchen to cook meats or veggies. They are about as big as a grilled cheese maker.) Add a side of soup or a salad with very little dressing if you are still hungry,
If you work and eat out for lunch try Cafe Express or Celebrity Cafe if you have one near you. Otherwise,order a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with no mayo and take the top bun off. Eat it with a knife and fork. I recommend Wendy's because you can get the chili as a side. It is very lowfat. NO FRIES!!! The Chipotle burrito bowl is pretty good but be sure not to get sour cream or rice in it!
Diet sodas or water only. No desserts. Cottage cheese,cheese sticks, or plain yogurt(add in some granola) are good in between meal snacks. If you eat eggs(or some kind of protein)with your bagel or toast for breakfast,you will notice that you will be less hungry throughout the day. And only put nonfat cream cheese ,I cant believe its not butter, or low sugar jam on your bagel. Peanut Butter is a great idea too! If you do not have time to make your own breakfast, then a drive thru egg biscuit will do. But no hash browns. Be sure to drink lots of water with lime in it. It speeds up your metabolism.
If you dont have time for the treadmill,take your baby on power walks in the stroller around the neighborhood for at least 30 min every day. Its been cold lately but hopefully it will warm back up soon! Good luck!! :)

Don't be embarrassed - I did this in my own wedding dress, although I had about 6 weeks so all was well by the time our wedding came. I had gone in for my final fitting and my Mom had a very difficult time getting the zipper up. I was so embarassed too, so I know where you're coming from. I started doing as much ab work as possible. I use the ab roller and it works wonders on my abs. I totally cut out any type of desserts too. I only needed to lose about 5-10 lbs and I had 6 weeks to do it-thank goodness!!
I like everyone's ideas listed. I think I would try the subway diet b/c you can get a variety of subs under 7 grams of fat and it's simple to do. You don't have to worry about buying a bunch of different foods and you don't have to count all the calories.
I've heard the great things about yogurt and oatmeal helping to lose weight, but I've never tried it.

Lots of good advice. I am sending you the link to a soup diet.It works, but it's not for long term. It's only 7 days, and the more you eat of it, the more you will lose. I did this in january to kick off my low carb focus for 2007.

Do it for the 7 days, then don't eat bread, pasta, or anything white (flour, sugar, milk) and you will continue losing weight and feeling lighter.

Eat a couple servings of yougurt a day too, that helps speed up weight loss.
