Newborn Diaper Suggestions

Hello moms! I would like some input on your favorite brand of diapers for little ones. With my daughter, we always used Pampers Swaddlers. I absolutely LOVED them! So naturally when she became a toddler we stayed loyal and switched to their Cruisers. Then...Dry Max came. It gave our daughter such a bad rash that nothing would fix it. We had to switch to cloth for a while, because after the rash started, every type of diaper made it worse. After we cleared it up, we switched to Huggies. Now that we have another little one on the way, I feel lost. Are the Swaddlers with the dry max okay? Even the sensitive diapers have the dry max in them. I haven't used any other brand for little ones, so I don't know. I don't want to have to buy a pack of every kind just to feel each of them. We want to start stocking up now like we did with our daughter. It was a huge help not having to buy diapers for the first two months of her life. However, we don't want to start a huge stock pile and then hate them. I would appreciate knowing what kind of diapers you have tried and the pros and cons to each one. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

I like store brands for disposables. They work just as well and are far cheaper.

You should consider cloth though :D

My 2 tear old daughter had the same problem with rashes from dry max but I switched to just the basic Pampers Baby Dry. They do not have Dry Max and work just as well as the swaddlers/cruisers. And she has not had a rash since. In my opinion, the swaddlers are not that more softer than the Pampers baby dry. If I had a second child, I would start them out on the Baby Drys instead

We had to switch to the Huggies Pure and Natural when my daughter was a newborn because the Pampers gave her a terrible rash. We still use those and have not had any trouble with them at all... Good luck and congrats!

We mainly cloth diaper (LOVE THEM SO MUCH!) but when we do use disposables we usually use LUVS. They are a good price and we've never had problems with them causing rashes or leaking.

The dry max did poor for our LO too even as a newborn. I stuck to either Huggies Natural or cloth

I've always used Huggies Snug N Dry with no issues. Even on my newborn, I'd use size 1-2 and she'd be fine with it.
I use then on my 2.5yo too.

If you have a Costco membership, do yourself a favor and try their Kirkland brand diapers. I promise you won't want to go back to Pampers or Huggies or whatever. They're GREAT!

When our girls were born we were given many brands of diapers at the shower. We didn't have to buy them for 4 months! With twins! God bless our friends! Anyway, we were going to use pampers as that is what the girls had on in the NICU, but we found that they were more prone to leakage. We used White Cloud and loved them, but they took them off the market- at least where we live. Switched to Parents Choice (walmart brand) and thought we were okay. Took one dd to ped. gastro. for a milk allergy diagnonis and during the exam she saw the little red dots that we thought were some kind of diaper rash. She said,'dd is allergic to her diapers. Change to another brand.' We use Luvs and Huggies, depending on sales/coupons/trips to Sams Club. We like them both and have no leakage problems from either. The Luvs are less bulky though.

We used Pampers Swaddlers in the hospital, but I never used them at home. Pampers are designed more for a girl. My son would leak out of them. We used Huggies for a while and I loved them. We also are big fans of Luvs, but they are scented and the smell reminds me of scented Always pads. It was just not a good smell to me.
We have a Sam's Club membership and I adore the Member's Mark diapers.
However, I am strictly Pampers when it comes to wipes. Huggies leaves too much of a residue and Member's Mark are not soft enough to suit me.
He has sensitive skin and we don't have any issues with Member's Mark or Huggies. I have seen his diaper rash get a little worse with Luvs. I think Sam's Club even has a combo box for Sizes 1 and 2 in Huggies and their brand.

I think this is a personal question and individual to each baby. I personally loved Swaddlers w/my son 7 yrs ago and bought them for my daughter..she did great with them (no rash like you describe). Huggies sent so many coupons (Target online has them, too, and you use a manfacture's and target coupon together), I tried them. I like them fine. My favorite was Huggies Natural, but I thought they were pricey. My sister's kids both broke out with Huggies.

With both my kids, once they got about 10 months old, I switched to generic. I saw where Target brand and Sam's Club brand diapers were made at the same plant and from personal experience, I can say they are identical, except the color (Wal-Mart, sadly, does not carry this generic anymore...their Parent's Choice diapers are worthless!!). I use them with my 13 month old with no trouble and it saves money!!

I think it is what the baby can wear .When my daughter was born the hospital we went to used Pampers so that is what we used and did not like them at all. We started use Huggies when we got home and we love them. She has not had any trouble with them at all and she is now in the size 3 little movers. My mom tried a lot of dippers with me tho and I couldn't wear anything but Huggies, but my sister could only wear Pampers so just try what you want your baby to wear and if they don't work out try a new brand.

I used Pampers for the first 6 months in case my daughter's skin was sensitive and then switched to Love's. They are the cheaper version of Pamper's. Work great! I think they are made by the same company, because I see coupons in the boxes for other items made by Pamper's.
