Okay this morning my 5 (soon to be 6 year old) woke up crying in his bed saying he was all wet. He hasn't had an accident of any kind day or night in over 2 years. I went in a took his clothes off and noticed immediately this was not urine. I know boys have wet dreams but isn't my son a little young? I didn't freak out to him, he asked me what it was and I told him that it is just something that happens to boys and is no big deal and he didn't have an accident it is okay. He started last year with body odor and the doctor just said to start him on deoderant. So now my Kindergartner has BO and wet dreams?? I wasn't expecting any of that for another 4-5 years... any advice, insight or clarification would be appreciated.

PS He does not have any other symptoms of early puberty- no voice changing, no hair growth etc.

What can I do next?

It is more than likely the hormones in the meat, and milk. Switch to organic NOW. It is more expensive, but worth it. And if you have a daughter it is even more important. It is not heathy to have puberty at 5. also see about organic milk and Cheese.

I would seriously consider having his hormone levels checked. It is unusual that he might be hitting puberty, but not out of the realm - especially with all the growth hormones in our food. Has he had any other signs, like hair growth.
Very odd - good luck.

My ex is a pediatric Physician's Assistant and he has told me that the hormones in food can cause early menses with girls. I assume it's the same with boys. You might want to limit his meat intake, especially of beef. Maybe try to get more protein from other sources, peanut butter, etc. Poultry probably doesn't have all the hormone additives that beef does. Does he have the other body changes of puberty? This seems a bit early so I would suspect food hormones are causing it.

Not to freak any of you out, but I was recently reading my local paper and saw an ad/request for participants in a new study from a drug company (can't remember which one right now though). Apparently there is a new "condition" or "syndrome" or whatever the heck they call them these days in which boys can begin puberty as early as age 3! I was stunned myself! I agree with the others who recommended taking your son to the doctor ASAP.

I too believe it is all the growth hormones in food these days. So an organic diet my be helpful, but I would definately seek medical advice immediately.

this doesn't mean that the boy is going through puberty. the wettness does not mean anything at this age other than excitement. the little one could have been dreaming of nothing more that playing with friends. however just in case have your doc do some hormone testing. however it doesn't seem like it is causing a huge problem so i wouldn't worry too much. the children these days are exposed to more hormones through the water and foods so it is expected that there are going to be unexpected results. i hope that things are going to be fine.

I talked to my mother about this as I have two girls and she has two boys, besides me of course.....she said you really need to get his hormone levels checked. She said boys don't usually hit puberty early like girls do and he shouldn't be having wet dreams or BO until he is around 10. I would just take him to a doctor and don't let them blow you off. Good Luck!!!

I wish I could help. This is all new to me too. My 6 yr old daughter has to wear teen spirit now cus of the BO and I thought that wouldnt happen for a long time...and she has had her first 2 breakouts....the last one keeps coming back. They say puberty is starting earlier now, but geez! It is scary isn't it!

You really need to talk to the pediatrician, and don't let them dismiss this. He definitely needs hormones levels checked.
