Hello!
This is somewhat weird.
For the past 4 days now, every time I wake up to feed my baby (for the 2nd time), I get a bloody nose. It's usually the right one
Does any of you girls have/had this problem?

Thank you

What can I do next?

Do you have enough moisture in the air in your house? If not, that could cause a dry, bleeding nose. You could run a cool mist humidifier in your room at night, or just in the house all day.

I second the dry air, but also...

Have your iron levels been checked since your pregnancy? Low platelets can cause nosebleeds.

My husband used to get bloody noses all the time until I made him start putting a little bit of vaseline in his nose. Just rub a little all over the inside of your nose before bedtime. It keeps it moist!

Definitely see a doctor. I have a bleeding disorder than can cause nose bleeds... there could be a problem with your blood, e.g. low iron levels. Dry air also seems really likely, do you use a humidifier at night? My nose has been crazy dry and the humidifier makes all the difference (I never thought they did anything before!)

Hi! I've had off and on "semi-chronic" nosebleeds for years now (especially in allergy season) and have finally found something that has stopped them...NeilMed puts out something called NasoGel (drip free gel for dry noses) and boy, does it work!! Check it out..they carry it at Rite Aid and probably some other places, too. It's not that expensive. By the way, Vaseline/Neosporin did not work for me...it's more of a temporary "bandaid" remedy) NasoGel is for chronic nosebleeders. Good luck! :)

Put a little bit of vaseline or neosporin (we use the generic triple antibiotic stuff - works great!) in your nostril, smear it around. That usually heals it up, or at least keeps it from cracking and re-bleeding again until the skin can grow over the weak spot.
I, and other family members as well, have had this problem from time to time, usually in the wintertime when it's dry. I dont know if it's from breastfeeding, but I wouldn't worry it is - unless it persists even after using neosporin/vaseline to help it heal. In that case, ask your doctor.

My husband had to have a vein in his nose cauterized because of consistent bleeding.

In your case, it could come from a variety of reasons.

Usually, you can call into your doctor's office and ask a nurse if you need to be seen. I tend to err on the side of caution these days and at least make a call. You never know what the cause is - in my case, a small pea-sized nodule near my collarbone turned out to be cancer when no one through it was (I was 7 weeks postpartum, and everyone thought it was "pregnancy hormones")

Good luck.

If it has been more arid, you can always try a humidifier, saline drops or a neti pot to help keep it moist.
