Nose Piercing - Denver,CO

I have been thinking about getting my nose pierced. I would love to hear from anyone that has theirs pierced... Where did you get it done? How much did it cost? Can I get a teeny tiny stone when I get it pierced or do I have to wait? What kind of nose ring do you like and why? I have skin that scars easily, did you notice any scar tissue with this?

This is something I have wanted for a long time and just want to be sure it is something that will work for me. Any advice or ideas are appreciated!

I went to a tattoo/peircing place in the closest big city...they'd been recommended by a couple of people...I went in to check it out and ask questions expecting not to actually get it done on that visit if I didn't like what I saw, but I was very impressed. I am allergic to nickel metal and the woman who pierced me was too, so she knew what I needed in a piercing, the room it was done in looked like a doctor's exam room and everything she used on me came out of sterile packaging...it was done by hand with a hollow needle and then she placed the piercing I picked out...run from someone with a peircing gun! I still have mine and have had no trouble AT ALL 7 years later. If I remember correctly the procedure was $50 and the piercing was around $25? Something like that.

I went to a tatoo/piercing shop. It was about $30. I got a tiny fake diamond stud. They screw it in so it doesnt fall out. I loved it.

I stopped wearing it when I got into corporate America. I don't have any scarring, but I do have a tiny little hole. It just looks like one of my pores. I say if you have a wild hair, this is a good way to go.

BTW, at the time I worked for a Hindu family. They thought it was so funny that a nose piercing is such a rebellious thing to do. In thier culture a pierced nose is something that indicates you are married and only the old ladies still do it. So, for them, it's an old fashioned, fuddy duddy thing to do!

I got mine pierced for my 34th birthday. It wasn't very expensive, couldn't be more than $40 and that included the initial stud they put in. They usually have a variety of ones to choose from and after the initial healing period you can buy nice ones at Spencer's Gifts or Hot Topic or other places. I got a simple "diamond" looking stud at the time. I now have several kinds, my favorite is a sterling silver dolphin.
I had no problems with scaring tissue or anything. You get a saline cleaning solution (I got mine from Hot Topic) and keep it clean. You need to move the stud around similar to when you get your ears pierced and need to twirl the earrings so when it heals it doesn't seal onto the stud. They should give you care instructions when you have it done that outline everything. You have to keep the original stud on a lot longer than earrings for it to heal or it can seal up very fast. I had to go back in after about a week because I accidental got my stud snagged on a towel and could not get it to let go. Ended up taking the stud out and it didn't want to go back in no matter how hard I tried.
My favorite style are straight with a tiny little balled up end at the end that's inside with the decoration on the other end. Looks like an earring with a bit of a balled up end. I like them because it has the least metal actually in my nose. When I first got it done I had a nose screw which has this big hook after a straight bit. It was just too much for me.
It was a little sensitive for a couple weeks. A little longer than I remember my ears being, which I've got both of them double pierced.
Find a place that looks clean and you feel comfortable in. I went to a place that's about 30 minutes away. It is next door to a favorite store of mine and I was always seeing it. They do piercings and tattoos. The guys working there are super nice. When I went back in when it came out I had to bring my 2 little kids (they were 3 & 1 at the time or so) with me and one of them was absolutely amazing keeping them entertained while I got it reinserted (he was having trouble too so it wasn't just my fail LOL).
It's been long enough that I can take it out every day to shower and put it back in when I am done without issue. I have a number of studs that I change out now and again but the dolphin is in the most. I just love it!

I had my done back in July of 2010. I went to a tattoo palor. It cost me about 40.00(if i remember right.) I had a small stone. It was a little noticeable but nothing to bad. I kept my in for about 4 months or so. mine got red around it. I don't know if b/c i was putting makeup on it or and around it that got infected or what. My ring stone almost got stuck in the hole itself. It was cool at first but really wasn't my thing. I don't think i have any scar from it and if so i can't tell where it was at.

I got my nose pierced several years ago at a tattoo shop which had people who specifically do piercing. I don't remember the cost... Mine kept getting snagged on my shirts etc... and it was taking forever to heal. I finally took it out. I do have a small scar there, but I don't think it's terribly noticeable. I think that mine was pierced to close to my septum. It just never felt very comfortable. But I know lots of people with nose piercing that don't have any trouble.

Good luck!

Go to a reputable tattoo/piercing parlor. You might ask people with piercings who they recommend. It is not too costly. I think maybe it was around $100 including the jewelry when I got it done about 4 years back. Yes, you can get a teeny stone to begin with, and that is what I have always had. I think the tiny studs are cute and not too out-there. In fact, I no longer notice mine- it is just part of my face, lol.
I got mine done 13 years ago, took it out for quite a few years so it healed over, and then had it re-done 4 years ago in the same spot. There was a very small scar once it healed over, it mostly looked like a large pore.
I have no regrets- it is a very easy piercing to take care of. In fact, i do nothing- it stays clean for the most part (every once in a while you might get a little booger crusty on the inside but really hardly ever-sorry to be gross). The first little while I just rinsed the outside of it with saline. It did not hurt very much to get the piercing, but I did misunderstand the piercer and took the stud out to clean it the 2nd day and GEEZ did that hurt! It hurt so bad that I passed out and left a dent in the wall from hitting it on my way down. Make sure you get clear, written down instructions from the piercer because I am pretty sure you are not supposed to remove the stud for quite a while. After a few months, it did not hurt at all to remove, just like an ear piercing.

Shortly after my husband and I got married, we both got our nose pierced...We got small diamond studs. Can't remember "exactly" how much it cost, probably about 40-50 each... I only kept mine in for about 4-6 months (got bored of it), my husband had his for a few years (until he got a professional job).. It didn't leave a scar for either of us..

I would absolutely go to a reputable tattoo/piercing parlor.

I love the look of the teeny tiny stud, and no one I've known has anything more than a small hole (looks like a pore) when they take it out.

I do know that while it's healing, my friends constantly had their fingers in their nose, drove me nuts! I have never had anything more than my ears pierced, I am the BIGGEST wuss when it comes to piercings (but I'm covered in tattoos, go figure)...

Either way, I think you've gotten great advice, and good luck!

Piercings through cartilage is different than through flesh without cartilage. As you age in time the area with cartilage to shrink, so you have a chance of one nostril shrinking a bit . Also, if you scar easily, especially keloid, you might want to reconsider. Check with your doctor concerning your own skin type first to make sure it's ok for your skin. Neither a tattoo/piercing parlor nor a mall piercing booth can tell you this about yourself although they are familiar with scarring and caring for the piercing. Check this site which has good info on scarring from piercings: http://www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/body_piercing_informatio...
