Odd Air Freshener Question

We have never really been big on plug in air fresheners, they are expensive and our kids are young. We moved into a new place a little over a month ago and it had been empty for a while, so it had "that smell." I bought the plug in Febreze NOTICEables, 2 of them. One is in the living room and one is int he kitchen. I really loved them the first two weeks, our house smelled so good. It was nice to walk in from being out all day to the scent too. Cheesy, huh? Well now, I can't smell them at all! We moved the one in the living room after we moved furniture around last weekend. I know the outlet itsn't bad because we had the tv plugged into it before. They don't need changed either, they are still almost half full. Am I immune to it now, or what?? Is there something else that works better that I should try instead that actually works the full 30 days like it is supposed to?

I have the same problem with the Bath and Body ones. I think I have become immune to them. Other people will walk in to my house and tell me it smells good, so I am hoping they are still working. They are usually stronger in the beginning. Its not just you :-)

I love the Bath & Body air fresheners, but yes, I've noticed that I stop smelling them after a while too. But I do love to use them, and I think they're a lot safer than candles. I'm thinking maybe I'll just buy a few different scents, and alternate which ones I have plugged in.

PS: I have to laugh about people who are freaked out about all the chemicals... umm... all products everywhere have scents in them. Shampoo, bar soap, laundry soap, dish soap, and that's not considering that most of us wear deodorant, perfume, hair spray/gel and the like on a daily basis. Not to mention the not-so-pleasant smells of living in a large city: car and bus exhaust, garbage bins, industrial waste, homeless people peeing on the sidewalks. So you have heated oil with a scent in it, plugged into an outlet in the living room. What's the big deal there?

Just FYI. Those and all air fresheners like that are highly toxic.

I too LOVE Scentsy! Smells my whole house, and lasts for a long time! For me, with kids, the most important thing is that they use essential oils for the fragrance so it is safe for all of us! Fabreeze and otherplug ins give me asthma attacks due to the synthetic fragrance.

Personally I don't and wouldn't use them in our house...can cause allergies, asthma, etc. It just *can"t* be good to inhale chemicals. Burn a few soy candles up high....

I would work at finding what the root of the smell is. One thing you can do is get some activated charcoal, the kind you buy for fish tanks and put it into some old sock and put them around your house. You can use unscented kitty litter too. Sprinkle some baking soda in the carpets and let it sit for a little while and vacuum it up. Open up the windows as much as you can to air things out. Those plug ins aren't getting rid of the smell, it's simply placing a stronger smell to try to hide it. Whatever is making the smell is still there. Another way to get a nice scent in your home is to put a big pot on the back burner with some water with things like cinnamon, cloves, lavender, peppermint etc. Bring it to a boil and then let it simmer filling your house with all those yummy scents. A lot cheaper and safer than those plug ins and you can change up the scents super easy.
I have never been able to be around those scented plug ins, sets my asthma off every time and just about kills me. I don't use any scented body products either, don't use a lot of body products in general.

I agree with the fact that those things are seriously toxic. You are literally putting poison into the air. If there is still an odour lingering try placing a bunch of baking soda boxes around the house in hidden areas and that should combat any smells
Good Luck

SCENTSY!!! I LOVE them!!! I live in my parents basement :( and it has the typical basement moldy smell, plus my dad and brother cleans guns in the living room down the hall so it smells sulfer-y.I turn on my scentsy and all I smell is lavender, lilacs, or blueberry crumble depending what I want that day :D
I also have had morning toddler stink with his diapers and so that smell. . . well you know. Turn on the scentsy, rinse the diapers and there is NO smell :D
