I was talking to a friend last nite and she just had a baby in October. She thinks she is pregnant again. She is ok with it but I am sure the strain on her body will take its toll. So I was wondering if any of you mamas had any experience with having 2 babies in one year? How did everything turn out?

Edited: Ha, ha, ha...as someone PM'd me, yes this really is a "friend". It is not me!

What can I do next?

my SIL did the same thing - my niece and nephew are 10 months apart, the next nephew (#3) was born 11 months later and then the next nephew (#4) was born 1 year and 1 day later - and my niece (#5) was born 2 years later - that was after her having 2 miscarriages. i thought she was crazy but she did it with no problem

She'll be fine. I was pregnant with my second when my first was 9 months old. My best friend got pregnant with twins when her oldest was just 4 months old.

This is what our bodies was meant to do...and it's actually easier to have them close together. It's harder on the body to put years between babies.

My husband's best friend's mother (follow that?) loves to joke about going to her 6-week post natal visit only to have the doctor say "Congratulations Mrs. Jones, you're STILL pregnant!". Her boys are a grade level apart. Aside from her being really tired for the first two years, there were no long-term physical complications. Her husband, however, did have a um... "long-term" physical adjustment!

Well, I had two 12 months and 5 days apart and the first was a preemie so not even due at the time he came. He was due the end of January and was born the first week of Dec. and the second one born December 5 days later than the first child's birthday. So that was fairly close and I did fine. I went on to have 6 more kids, total of 8, some were 14 months apart, and I am still in pretty good shape. Of course it could be hard on you but I believe keeping up with the kids all the years kept me feeling better physically. I know many who have prolapse, etc. and didn't have kids or even close together, etc. Everyone isn't the same though. Our son and his wife had one 14 months old when their twins were born. They survived fine and had another one even.

my sister had 3 babies in one year, a girl in feb of 06 and twin boys in dec of 06, im not sure if it was the fact the twins were her 4th pregnancy in 4 years or what but her body was messed up, she HAD to have her tubes tied (she actually found out she was pregnant while she had her tubes tied after the fact with them) but they turned out fine, the twins and the other child are VERY VERY close

My son's are exactly 366 days apart. I found out I was pregnant again when my oldest son was 5 months old and we had just moved to South Korea since my husband is in the military. It does take it's toll and it's even harder to lose the weight unless you have a naturally high metabolism. I have a friend here who had her kids I believe in the same year. She looks awesome, she looks like she's never had any kids. It just depends on the person. Now having to take care of them that is hard lol. My oldest will be 2 March 31 and my youngest will be 1 on April 1st. lol all I have to say is good luck.

One of my dear friends had three in less than three years. The second two were surprise babies. If your friend takes care of herself and walks or exercises in some way she will be fine. Eating right and exercise really does help. She can do water aerobics which is really great. My friend looks great and you'd never know she has four kiddos and three so close together. The only challenge she has is birthdays, cuz they are so close together ;0) Hope this helps some. Good luck and God Bless to you and your friend.

My dad and his two brothers are each 11 months apart. They gave my grandma hell in their childhood, but everyone survived with plenty of stories to tell ;)

My two sons are 18 months apart, and they love each other very much! It's been a tiring few years, and I will have a third in October... My grandma always tells me they are too far apart in age ;)
