I was just wondering if anyone had tried any otc teeth whitening. I dont have the money to go to the dentist and after years of being a Moutain Dew junkie and smoking my teeth look kinda dingy! I am also 32 weeks pregnant so I dont know if you can use any of these products pregnant or not! thanks!

ps......Ive have been off Mountain Dew and smoking for years but my teeth still show the effects of all those years of it!

What can I do next?

I have used Crest Whitening strips with much success. Just wait until you have the baby (don't use while pregnant) and also not good to use if you're going to breastfeed - but once you're done with all that, I highly recommend the Crest Whitening strips.

I dont know about doing it while preganant but once you can do it go to the dentist and ask them for the "Night White" tubes...about $40. I had tried all the otc ones, colgate, ect ( I drink coffee like it is air!) and none of them did anythign really, felt I wasted my $$. These work wonderful!!! Well worth the little extra that they cost. I went to the expense of getting teeth molds but my mother uses either a sports mouth guard or a piece of saran wrap over her teeth when she uses it and both of our teeth are super super white...people even stop and ask me! Also I brush with hydrogen peroxide once a day..just put it on your toothbrush and brush for 2 mins, I dont rinse but let it sit for a bit, like 10 mins before rinsing.

I've used Crest White Strips in the past too, and they work great! But I've always held off while pregnant and/or nursing just because I didn't feel it was worth the risk.

As a dental hygienist I would definitly say don't use while pregnant. To be honest I'm more concerned with the M.D. and smoking right now. Mountain Dew is one of the worst products you can put into your body...let alone the babies. I causes rampant decay, astronomical sugar levels and a increased heart beat. Please try to scale way back on these during pregnancy, If you have to have MD drink it all in one sitting, don't carry it around and sip it all day. Also drink through a straw and ALWAYS brush your teeth at night! After the baby there are plenty of good quality products to whiten your teeth with that are inexpensive.

Crest white strips. Follow the directions. Use toothpaste with whitening until the tube runs out and then use regular toothpaste till that tube runs out.

Always ADA approved tooth[paste.. Al of this was suggested by my Dentist.. If the enamel has been damaged, the whitening may not end up very bright..

Rembrant (2 hour) Whitening Kit works very well ( and you see results right away) My dentist recommended it to me and it around $20. Im not sure if you can do teeth whitening while your pregnant, but i'm sure if you read the lable it will tell you if its safe or you could call the company.

I saw one recently called calprox that looks pretty impressive and a lot safer. I am wanting to get some, but we don't even have $36. good luck!
