Our Top Three Names...

Dear C.,
When choosing a name, I always considered how it would sound when I was yelling at my kids. First, last and middle, and they'd know they were in trouble. :)
Also, it might sound weird, but I thought about their names being called when they graduated high school and if it had a good ring to it.

The names you are considering are lovely.

I like Nicole best, then Gabrielle. Sophia is too much of a mouthful (I think it is the "a's" at the end.

I like Kyra Nicole - to me it doesn't sound right to end the first and the middle names with an "a" sound as in Kyra Sophia. Congratulations!

Just throwing this out there.... do you really want her to go through life having to explain to people how to pronounce Kyra??? I'm still not even sure how to say it based on "keyr-a". If she is shy, she won't correct them and they'll keep pronouncing it wrong. But whether or not she's shy, I think it's just so cruel when parents are inconsiderate and give their child a name they KNOW everyone will either have a hard time pronouncing right or have a hard time spelling right. I suggest you pick whichever middle name you REALLY like because when she is old enough she may decide to go by it because she's so fed up correcting everyone on her first name, like some other people I know

Not sure if you put them in the order of your FAV's first, but I like Kyra Nicole. But how do you pronounce Semsch?

Kyra Sophia is a bit of a challenge for me to say. I am getting all lispy, hehe!

Personally, I like Kyra Nicole best and Gabrielle second. I don't like the sound of Kyra and Sophia together simply because they both end with the same kind of "a" sound. Independently, I think they are fine, just not together. Good luck and congratulations! Have you thought about the initials too? Do you like KNS, KSS, or KGS? The middle one kind of looks like "kiss." You'd be surprised at the things kids do with initials when they get a little older!

I like all three names; my favorite is Kyra Sophia, then Kyra Nicole and my last is Kyra Gabrielle. Congratulations!

I'd vote for Kyra Nicole... if you say the 3 quickly, it really seems like a natural combination. Best wishes!

nicole is not as soft-sounding as the other two.
Gabrielle is the perfect balance.

Kyra is a lovely name, C.. My son has gone through school with a darling girl name Kyra. She didn't seem to have any problem with people mispronouncing her name. I like all the name, but am partial to Gabrielle.

I like Kyra Nicole the best. It flows really well. Gabrielle would be my second choice, but Nicole is the leader by far for me. : )

they are lovely names. the last poster had a point about the way the names flow. have you considered Gabrielle Kyra Semsh? or Nicole Kyra Semsch. you will figure it out when you see her lol. I always thought I had my names planned until the baby actually got here and then they didn't look at all like the name I had picked. but they names they got fit them great. congrats on the new baby

Nicole is a great middle name, of course I am partial to that. We have so many in my family, between sisters, neices and my own, we have
Shawne Nicole, Brooke Nicole, Lindsay Nicole, Karly Nicole and Averie Nicole :)

Krya Nicole sounds good. Imagine if she is not behaving you can yell, Kyra Nicole get over here. On the other hand when she graduates anything you can hear Ms. Kyra Nicole please step forward and get your degree! And when she has her first child you can say Kyra Nicole, I am so proud of you...see?

Kyra Nicole or Sophia are the best. Gabrielle is okay, I think it would be prettier as Gabriella.

I know you are set on this first name but take if from someone who has a name people have trouble pronouncing...its not fun. Kyra looks like it should be pronounced like it rhymes with Sky-ra. I am all for naming kids something that isn't Olivia or Ava but its just something to really consider espcially since you have an unusual last name as well.

I like Sophia for a middle name.

I'd like to suggest that you consider coming up with a different spelling for Kyra. Everyone who sees that name will pronounce it KYE-ra, not KEE-ra. She might get frustrated with that. You could try Keira, which is a spelling that clearly shows how to pronounce it.

Or you could go traditional. The original name is Ciara, which is Irish, and is pronounced KEE-ra, even though it doesn't look like it. (Plenty of people will be "in the know" and won't have any trouble pronouncing it.) It means "black and mysterious."

I think that if you are going to have a name that doesn't sound the way it looks, at least go with the traditional, classic, original name, not one with a more recent spelling.
