I am going to make this short... We have been trying for several months to get pregnant. I have been on Clomid for 3 or 4 cylces now. I just had a "chemical pregnancy" or very early miscarriage. My doctor found multiple cysts on one of my ovaries and asked me to give it a rest this month. I understand not using Clomid until my ovaries goes back to normal but why can't I continue to try to concieve???
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

Thanks
J.

When the cysts go away or are removed then you can try all you want but in my experience, your body does not have a good chance of handling both. You'll have a much higher rate of miscarraige and no one wants to go through that. Wait until your body is as healthy as it can be if you want the baby to have it's best chance at survival. It took ten years to get my son so I know how much you just want to be able to say I'm pregnant, but it's not worth it if 2 or 3 weeks later you have to make a different phone call telling everyone to nevermind not this time. I am now on my sixth pregnancy and only have one child. I am 21 weeks and doing well with this one two. But take my word for it be healthy or at least as healthy as possible. It's worth the extra month or two.
Hope this helps. If you want feel free to contact me directly to talk or whatever.

Hi J.,
I also took clomid before my first pregnancy. I was on it for a couple of months then stopped taking it and became pregnant. At 6 weeks I had a miscarriage. I am assumming that because of your situatiuon with the cysts it would not be good to become pregnant right now. I ended up waiting a year before going back on clomid and became pregnant the first cycle. I also would research exactly when the best time to conceive on clomid is. I was a little confused the first time around. I had a problem with my mucus being too thick so I was taking robutussin cough medicine to thin it out. I know of a few people that did this and also became pregnant. Anyway I now have 2 beautiful children 9 and 5 and for the second child I didn't have to take anything.
Good luck and hang in there.

I am so sorry you are going through this too. I have been TTC for almost 2 years now. I have had one miscarriage and my Dr. told me my current pregnancy is not viable and I am just waiting to miscarry now. I was on Clomid when I conceived this time. I had a mass of cysts on both ovaries, but they are going away while I'm pregnant. I'm in my 11th week. So they said once I have two cycles I can try again. They said that if you try with to many cysts you can end up with a fibroid which can cause problems including miscarriage during pregnancy. If you are looking for people to talk to who've suffered from miscarriages a great web site is http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com/ there are people with all kinds of problems and miscarriage stories. Good luck to you.

I don't know the medical reasons in depth, but there may be a worry about blockages and tubal pregnancies. When I tok clomid they would do ultra sounds each month to make sure each egg had extracted, and then I would have to go on birth control for a month, and then wait and do clomid the next cycle. Very frustrating, and hormonally a rollercoaster.
However, i was suspicious that they thought my real problem was emotional, and that they wanted to relieve my stress about getting pregnant by having me not try.
This may not have helped, but know that there are others that have been through the same bumpy ride.

Hi J., That is rough what you're going thru. I am sorry that you are having to battle this.

Since I haven't been thru it myself and I'm not a specialist in that area I can offer to you the information I have. I work with Moms who want to have optimal health so that they can have the energy to be the Moms they dream of being. Have any of your Drs talked with you about using nutrition to prepare your body for conceiving? Have they talked to you about building a healthy hormone system? Would you like to learn more about that? I have some great CDs by professionals that I would be glad to share with you.

Blessings of Peace to you,
M.

Haven't been through that J., but I have used Clomid.

Consider the changes the body goes through due to hormonal changes. You can get sick, mood swings, it can trigger all sorts of things.

I'm with your doctor on this one. Better to be on the side of precaution.

J....the reason for needing the break is not just to give your body a break, but usually when you have multiple cysts on your ovaries (from the chlomid) the risk of rupture is high. Any cyst rupturing could damage an ovary and sex increases the risk of rupture. I was on chlomid for both of my children and had cysts several times. It really is just best to rest for a month (through your next cycle) and let the cysts go away on their own. Good Luck!

I had frequent ovarian cysts and ruptures - my OB never said to rest (but I wasnt taking Clomid not sure if that is the factor) anyway I conceived and had a baby and then a second and my cycts occur once a year now if that ..... I am not sure the connection for you becuase for me preganancy actually was a cure to my cysts. (the Dr explained the whys but for my life its been 10 years I couldnt exactly tell you why!)
