Party Ideas, North Texas

I am looking for somewhere to have my son's birthday party. He will be turning 2. We are having a very small party, with just immediate family. 8 adults, 4 kids 4 and under, 2 older kids. I would love something outside. We were originally thinking of going to a zoo in Gainesville and having a picnic lunch, but with gas prices I can't ask my family to drive all the way out there. (And I can't pay for them to!!) I was hoping for a place in Coppell, Flower Mound, or Lewisville...as it's centrally located and a short distance for both sets of grandparents. I've looked for a small toddler sized bounce house to rent and have it in a park, but can't find one. I really don't want to spend much money, since it's just family. I'd also like something fun for the little ones. Any ideas, or locations?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Forgot to add: We are doing some improvements on our home, which do not lend itself to having guests. We would have it here, but that option is out...unfortunately.

Legoland just opened at Grapevine mills mall. My 2 1/2 year old LOVESSSSS it! Also, the Rainforest Cafe is next door inside the mall. That would be a great place for a party.

Is there a spray park in your area? We have them in Arlington/Mansfield/Grand Prairie. Free to the public and some that cost 1 or 2 dollars. They have water sprays and a rubber floor, some have the big buckets that dump water and small water slides. Go to the city parks and recreation pages for cities near you. Look for water and spray parks. Then you can just use the parks bbq grill or bring a bucket of chicken and a cake.

I would go to each cities website. I know in Allen, you can rent out their outdoor facilities, but I think you need special permission, and it may have an added cost for insurance, to bring a bounce house. Allen has some great outdoor park areas and the rental fees for a pavillion are really reasonable. Check and see if your specific cities have the same.

For my son's 4th birthday we went to a local park that had a splash pad. At the time we lived in Arlington & there are a ton over there. It was super cheap & everyone had a blast.
The kids would have fun playing in the water & at the park while the adults visit or play with the kids. If you don't want to rent a pavilion (many offer this) just check out the park to make sure it has plenty of shade & bring lawn chairs. You could grill or just do something easy like sandwhiches and fruit salad that you could bring. Have fun & I hope you find a place that works for you!

try Andy Brown East @ 260 East Parkway Blvd in Coppell. Its a very beautiful park. The acutal playground has quite a few round picnic tables, get there early and claim your table, I don't believe you have to reserve these. We love this park, we are there a few times a week for my young ones softball games.

The park includes:
148 acres
Kid Country playground
Picnic Pavilion
pond
fishing pier
jogging/walking trails
outdoor basketball court
restroom facility
Aquatic and Recreation Center- currently having some work done

I say just do it at your house and have some food and put out the toys. Kids at that age don't need much to occupy them and there won't be a ton of people, so just do it at home. You can offer a meal or just do cake and ice cream and call it good. I looked at bounce houses last year and they were surprisingly inexpensive, you could always set it up in your front or back yard...you probably get to keep it for 24 hours and that's fun too!

There are a lot of nice parks in Coppell and they also have an inside facility that you can rent out. Try this website http://www.ci.coppell.tx.us/departments/departments-n-z/p...
Also they have a petting zoo in Irving - depending on the date of your party because the zoo is only open in June & July.

Frisco horse park could put together a fun package for everyone I think. Pony rides would be fun for the littles and horses for the bigger ones. Also, I think the flower mound pumpkin patch does bday parties throughout the year with hayrides and bounce houses. I remember that being a fun place.
