Pediatrician/General Practitioner Open to Alternative Vaccination Schedules

So I wanted to put my son on an alternative vaccination schedule (he's 3 months old), but I just found out that our current peds office has a policy that he must start getting them by 4 months of age or find another office. I just want to delay them until age 2 and find a ped that's open to that. We live in Lisle. We're close to Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove. If they are associated to Edwards Hospital, all the better! (I already know about HomeFirst, but trying to find another with better office facitilies.)

I'm in the same boat. Wheaton Pediatrics has been awesome. We see Dr. Cynthia Ambler and she's never given me a hard time.

We, too, go to Wheaton Pediatrics. We have a 10 month old and 3.5 year old, both who have received no vaccinations at this point. We get an occassional 'mini lecture' - depending on who we see. On our last visit, the doctor assured us (he brought it up)that many of their patients follow an alternative schedule and that we shouldn't let that deter us from getting the care we need.

Hi A.,
We also had the same hitch. We were told to not darken the doorstep unless we were going to tow the CDC line. Okay, off the soap box now. We have been doing the CDC catch up schedule by plan from birth with both kids at Wheaton Pediatrics, ###-###-####. I enjoy the style and personality of Dr. Rucoba and Dr. Able. There are 8 doctors and a nurse practitioner there.
We started giving them shots, 1 at a time, when they were two and held off on the ones we didn't feel comforable with, Flu shot, MMR #2, Hep B(any), Hep A. Our insurance was fine with the extra visits and I have a Dr. whose catch up plan I can live with.

Good luck,

L. L.

Hi A.,

I know what you mean about the office facilities at Homefirst but I was just there last week and they have completely redone the office in Naperville. New wood floors, professionally painted and new receptionist area. I just wanted to throw that out there. I was pleasantly surprised.

We go to Wheaton Pediatrics. Looks like some other posters already shared about them. We love them! Great office, great doctors. They follow mainstream medicine, but you can still delay the vaccinations if you sign the waiver (and sit through the mini-lecture).

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chad Olsen with Millennium Pediatrics. He's open to your schedule for vaccinations and none of the nurses bother you, ask questions, etc. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

Also, you may want to consider checking out the Holistic Moms meeting this August (Tuesday, the 4th). The group will be talking all about vaccinations, etc. It is a wonderful group....the Western Suburbs chapter.

Hi A.,

Try ABC Pediatrics in Naperville (1247 Rickert Dr # 101

. We go there and are doing an alternative schedule for our daughter. She is 4 months right now. We are not delaying, but spreading them out (she got 2 and 2 months, 2 at 3 months, 2 at 4 months etc). I think they would be open to delaying.

My kids see the doctors at DuPage Medical Group in Naperville. We'll see almost anyone for sick kid visits. For checkups and any time vaccines might be discussed, I ask for Dr. Murphy or Dr. Lieb. They're both very open minded and willing to listen to the parents. We love them both.

Dr Serverino at cornerstone medical is pretty good with accomedating. He soes believe we should be more traditional, but let's us do it our way. With my first, we waited a year and then did one at a time (no chicken pox, hep, and held off mmr until past 2). With the second we did one at a time starting at 6 mths. Cornerstones medical's number is ###-###-####. We've also seen Cinsy George PA, when we can't get in to see Severino the same day. We like her a lot too. They are off Butterfield, just east of winfield road. They are with CDH.

I go to Dr Michael Fitzgerald out of the Dupage Medical Group. They are located right next to Edward Hospital on Spalding Dr (free valet parking out front!). Anyway, I love him. He has never pressured us about the vaccines, and understands our reasons. I only had one round of vaccines for my now 22 month old son and never was pressured to have any others before or after that. He is so nice and easy to talk to! Here is their number: ###-###-####.
