Any advise on how to train my twins? My son is not ready yet but I know my daughter is. I have already bought a Bjorn Potty seat but where do I begin? I am a single mom with a super full-time job. I know it ma take a bit longer for me than if I stood at home.

What can I do next?

I have b/g twins (they are 20 yrs old now) and I remember potty training like it was yesterday. My daughter wanted to go on the potty like her two older sisters so she started to train herself at about 20 months. She had a million accidents but ended up totally accident free by 30 months.

My son on the other hand had no interest at all. He'd sit every once in a while but it was hit or miss. When he was 30 months old he decided no more diapers and was 100% potty trained in one day.

How old? If they are still 20 mos, all I would do is introduce them to the potty. We do this and are doing it with our 21 month old, Have a potty there and encourage them to just sit on it -- sometimes my son likes to sit on it with his clothes on, teach them the process of potty, flush, wash hands... Then with your DG who is interested, take her often, consider training pants or at least pull ups so they can practice pulling pants up and down. It is harder in the winter, but if you can let them go with just the pull up or training pant, perhaps you know when they normally go poo and you can take her pretty frequently around that time. Have books by the potty and plan to stay there with your child (maybe you need 2 potties). It will take a long time for them to go and when they do, make a HUGE HAPPY party about it!!! THere was this movie I got from the library that ahd this catchy song like *bye bye poo poo bye bye pee pee* my son loved it!!! We would sing, read. I did pull ups first then training pants then undies. Follow their cues and don't push too much, remember accidents happen so if you have carpet hopefully you have a carpet shapmpooer if not I highly recommend one. Best of luck!

Dont stress over it.
Are they in day care?

Do they train there?

Just get a couple of potties and once they unerstand the concept you should have them trained. Put the potties in the bathroom with you and when you go bring them too. I had the same set up with boy and girl twins. Girl trained at 18 mos boy at 2.

Hi J.
How are you doing?
When our twins were about 22 months, one was ready and the other not at all. We simply trained the one. Well during that I told her she would wear big girl panties, and trained simply. Her next comment was, "I a big girl and you a baby" to her twin sister. Well after laughing and trying hard not to do that, I decided her sister should wear big girl pull ups. It didn't take long til her sister wanted to be like her sister and wear the more comfy and pretty big girl panties. It is one of those memorable moments even today
God bless you and your lovely family
K. SAHM married 38 years --- adult children 37,32, and the twins 18 and in college, not wanting to hear the story of potty training now.

J.,
Boy this is a fun time! Does your daughter know when she has gone? Does she ask to be changed? Have you tried sitting her on the potty before her bath at night? This seems to be a time when they naturally have to go. I started to train my girls (triplets) at 2 and it was just too much for me (they really weren't ready) I decided they could train themselves. At 2.5 I would dress them in a pair of "big girl pants (butI put plactic pants over them...I did NOT use pull ups as they feel just like a diaper and I wanted them to know the uncomfortable feeling of being wet). When they wet their pants they would be in a diaper the rest of the day. If they wanted to wear real undies they had to stay dry. This put the power in their hands (at this point they had the control and would ask for their diaper to be changd when they were dirty). Two of my girls were trained at weeks end...on their own. My third just didn't care. At three I just stopped buying diapers and she had no choice. She didn't like being wet and I told her I didn't have any more diapers...she started using the potty alone. I didn't want this to be a stresful time for them or myself as many issues can develope from stressing over potty training. Good luck! J.
