I know I went through this with my first daughter too, but I can't remember how we got through it..LOL! My daughter is 2.7 years old and is learning to potty train. She does great all day long with no accidents as long as she has NOTHING on her bottom half. As soon as I put a pull-up or training underwear, reg panties or anything she immediately has an accident. I don't know how to get past this so she can fully be trained. Any thoughts, input or ideas appreciated.

What can I do next?

My son went through that phase, too - it lasted a couple of months, and now we're into underpants only. (As soon as pants/shorts go on over the undies, then he has an accident!) Give her a little more time - she'll get it!

Put real underpants on so she can feel when she has had an accident, not get in trouble for it, but realize it. Put her in new undies, make her sit on the potty every 15 min. (we have one in the family room so they can watch a show while waiting...and they do go!!). We also have a potty in the back of the mini van so when needed, we can pull over and they can do their thing :)
Good Luck!

We skipped underwear for a few weeks and just put pants on them. It seemed like the underwear or pull up felt like a diaper because it was close to their skin. Once they got used to pants without accidents we moved onto underwear.

What if you keep her bottomless until she goes potty, then put the pants on right after she has gone so her bladder is empty. Keep them on for an hour or two and then off they go until she goes potty again. Keep increasing the time with the bottoms.

I would not put any underwear on her for a while then when she is more potty trained put leggings on so it's closer to her (with a dress on over it), then a little bit after that put underwear on her. My daughter had a time period like that she could know when she needed to go but had accidents with anything on that touched her like underwear would. I put some loose track pants on her and that worked and then slowly moved into putting underwear on. When she had accidents the first day I realized she only would if she has underwear on, she would just take off the pants/underwear and tell me she had an accident lol She knew how to take them off so she didn't have to feel the wetness. Maybe see if very loose track pants (wide legs) would work, I got mine from Kmart and they are wide legs.

We went through out. We put nothing on for much of the winter, but when weather got warmer and he wanted to be outside, we started to put underwear on. I agree that underwear feels like a diaper, because he started going in it all the time. Plus I didn't take the potty outside with us and he never wanted to come in.

So in the spring we started leaving the underwear off, just putting on loose shorts that were easy to pull up/down. That did the trick! That lasted into summer and we have just started adding underwear, in the last few weeks. He now gets it and he is accident-free. In fact, we've graduated this week into wearing underwear in the car and on short trips! I'm so excited!

Give her a few more months and try again with underwear. She'll get it!
