Pregnancy After Nuva Ring.

Hi moms! My hubby and I are planning on getting pregnant at the end of this summer. Since i've been on the Nuva Ring for a year (Mirena IUD for a year before that), i'm wondering how that will affect my chances of conceiving right away? Anyone gotten pregnant the 1st month off? If not, how long did it take you? The info comes with the ring says some women have unexplained infertility for up to a year and i've heard that sometimes the hormones are still "in the blood" and you don't get pregnant right away. I keep hearing I need to be off the BC for 3 months before I even start trying. I've been blessed to have 2 unplanned pregnancies and one semi-planned. In all 3 cases, i wasn't on anything before getting pregnant so I dont know how my body is going to react and how quickly this is going to happen. This is only an issue because i'm in a wedding next Spring and my husband and daughter are in one in June. I need to get the timing just right. So Nuvaring users, when did it happen for you???

What can I do next?

For both of my pregnancies, they happened the first month I was off Nuvaring. We had heard to plan on being off for three months before getting pregnant, so originally that was how I planned the timing. However, the three months were not required for us!

I was on the Nuva Ring and conceived immediately after coming off of it. I was surprised it happened so quickly. Good luck!

It took me about 6 mos and one miscarriage before I carried to term. But I was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease during that same time. I would guess 3-6 is most likely the norm. I would wait a month or two after stopping the ring though to get the residual hormones out. Hope this helps!

I became pregnant almost immediately after stopping using the ring. This was also the case for one of my friends. Good Luck!

The ring has the same stats as the pill (and all hormonal BC), an average of 3-12 months to conception.
Good Luck! :)

K.,

I had absolutely no trouble at all getting pregnant after the Nuva Ring. I actually blame it for my unexpected pregnancy, because it made me so sick I couldn't stand it anymore, so I stopped using it (I know... not the best idea I've ever had). ;-)
I was pregnant within 2 months of stopping.

I wish you the best!

we used the nuva ring and ended up pregnant with my 2nd child while actually using it, apparently my body was not reacting to the chemicals in it at all. i was told that it can take up to 3 months, but i also had a friend that got pregnant the first time she had sex after stopping use of the ring, approximately a month. hope this helps and good luck in your endeavors

I think they suggest waiting several months after being off the nuva ring for a couple reasons. Your body needs to adjust to a normal cycle and prep itself for child birth. Many contraceptives thin the lining to the uterus and change your hormone levels. You want to make sure those things are back to normal to support the fetus. Otherwise, you may have an ectopic pregnancy (separation of the placenta from the uterus) or a complete miscarriage. Perhaps do some online
research on the mirena website.
