I don't see why not. I would do a "sniff test", but if there were no accidents and it has been stored correctly, it should be fine.
Hi, we are expecting our 2nd child in october, our first is almost 4 years old. We would like to re-use as much of our 4 yr old's infant stuff, as much as possible (it helps that the 2nd one is also a girl). Her baby mattress was barely used, no accidemts, no stains -- she barely slept in it! Hopefully, next one will ge tmore use from it. It been in our storage for about a year -- is it ok to re-use?
Thanks for the suggestions.
Thank u for all the comments -- I will be using the mattress with my newborn. Thank u for the white vinegar idea, instead of bleach. Thanks moms!

Why not? If it is like new and well maintained, use it and donate it later. Congrats on your baby!!!! God Bless You and Your Family!
We're re-using big sister's crib mattress right now...
I have reused ours for all three kids. I just make sure I clean it good before I use it. I kept mine in the basement storage area and all was fine.
I used the same crib mattress for all 3 of my boys and then also for years afterwards with the daycare. as long as it is clean and in good condition (no big sink holes in the middle, no stuff coming out no springs coming through) there is no reason to buy a new one.
C.,
Congrats on the new baby!
Yes, reuse the mattress. The mattress my youngest is on was used by 2 cousins & then his older brother. Just put a mattress pad on it & it's good to go. Unless of course, there are soft spots that your new baby could suffocate in.

Enclose mattress in a mattress cover. It is full of dust mites and mold. Could cause serious allergies.
yes:) It might also be nice to purchase one of the plastic zip around mattress covers.
I used the same crib mattress for all three of my children. I had a waterproof mattress cover from day one. Why go out and purchase another one when its perfectly good.
One of my cousins purchased new crib mattresses for ea of her kids. She had 4 kids. I know she didnt put a waterproof mattress cover on her mattress. I remember I had to sleep in the kids room one time and the matteress smelled like pee.
I used a 20 year old crib mattress in our crib -- for two children. :-) It had been wrapped in plastic and stored in my SIL's attic.
I guess I'm the ultimate in cheap!

Absolutely! I have 2 sons and I am thankful they can share toys, clothes, equipment. It saves so much money.
I used the crib matress for my three kids!!
Reuse-Reduce-Recicle the most you can. clean it, vaccum it, cover it with an accarus protection
Get it out of storage and see if there is mold, mildew, etc. Wash with White Vinegar (forget the toxic clorox)...Otherwise, if it's gross, go buy a new one (and also wipe it down with vinegar) They are not expensive at BabysRUs...
God bless you and your new baby!
